is it a good idea to buy some cheap ass rx7 with a blown engine and swap some common non- rotary engine (its a real nice looking car!) in? can i get a shop to do this? how much do you think it'll cost and how reliable could it be?

The engine you are swapping itself should be just as reliable as it was in the car it was originally in unless the RX7 you are buying is a beat-up shitbox rusting away.
