I'll start off with this ugly crap. So ugly. It's not even the mods, this thing is hideous stock. Looks like it has been carved out of soap and fed a diet of cheese and pork rinds. It's just fat and chunky and bloated looking.

I use to see Supras being praised everywhere as the un-beatable pual-walker car.
When i first started using /o/ however they weren't being praised as much. on Youtube though people behave like their some godly legend dominated everything it and its mighty 2JZ touched.
I then learned that most if not all of the racing Supras that competed in motor-sport didn't even use the 2JZ (they used some 4 cylinder instead) and even though it was designed as an all-around GT car people just seem to like it only for drag-racing. i (ironically) have seen more Corvettes casually driven on tracks on youtube than Supras. even in other countries such as the Burger King ring. (just my experience of course maybe they are tracked much more than what I've seen)
The supra fanbase doesn't annoy me anywhere near what it use to.
The supra hasn't aged well.

On a serious note, why wasn't the Lexus SC 400/300 praised as much as the Supra. The suspension and chassis was completely based off the SC, thus why parts are interchangeable and you would get a very luxury car (especially for its). I know the Supra came with the turbo 2jzgte, but even the auto NA supras are so highly praised. Is the car that good or is it just culture?
this makes me wonder, were supra's even successful in racing?
i know the rx-7 and gtr's were super successful.

Yea I don't understand this whole Supra obsession, yes the car looks great but imo the 97+ Sc looks much better. Other than that there isn't a whole lotta difference, the supra is slightly faster than a 300hp SC400. You don't even get basic luxury and the weight difference is not that much. I'm probably biased since I own a 98 SC400 and people on the forum said its because Supras weren't that common so they have higher resale value and also the fact that the owners made sure their values stay that way, as for the SC the people who owned it were broad, it wasn't just for enthusiasts. Now on paper these two cars come very close, so in that sense a supra shouldn't even be a half of its value. I rather get a nsx or rx7 any day desu.
Who cares about supras anymore?
The toyota 86 is pretty much a newer improved better looking supra that's less pig fat and doesn't have the shitty 2j engine that weighs a million tones.

It's been fun owning this one so far.
Got it on the cheap for $2000, was originally an NA auto (thus the dash) though no longer and had water ingested. Transmission tunnel had some .....creative....... work done to it when the previous owner installed R154. Water ingestion had caused the exhaust camshaft to spit the shims from the buckets when the exhaust valves were hydraulically locked. My wife and I found another GE for $700 and pilfered the exhaust camshaft, shims, buckets and springs from that head. Put a few grand in parts on it, Holset HX40W on a GE block and head. EMS computer and the usual go fast goodies. Solid, goes well, very rarely lets me down.
Lots of heat from the butchered trans tunnel though. Awkward place to get good shielding mounted without pulling the dash. Like other things, I'll get to it.
Yes, it's comfortable. And it's a nice car to drive. The steering is responsive and firm without being heavy, the brakes are similar. You can be quite confident with handling though you do find the point of no return where the mass works against you. My combo does not make much boost early in the power band but the factory twin turbo is pretty good in that respect. Fuel economy is average but not bad and the factory LSD in the differential is good.
Maintenance has been low and servicing is easy. The sump drains easily and the filter is accessible, one tensioner for the fan belt within easy access, easy access to crankshaft balancer and timing belt tensioner, lots of slack in the factory wiring loom and the cooling system bleeds easily.
I've driven, built and sold a few cool things but this I won't sell, I really like this car.
