but awd is also heavier and the only systems that accent performance are astronomically expensive and complex
so you take a rwd car and make it into a performance awd vehicle and you look at it and realize you were better off just sticking to rwd in the first place
which is why rally cars only really use their awd in dirt and out of hairpins, otherwise they try to stay pretty planted
which is why the top cars right now are all rwd save for the 918 which has electric motors up front
