Any college br/o/s doing Formula SAE this year?
Help out with it occasionally at my school. Pretty neat program. They're just starting an Electric team, and if I wasn't graduating in may I would be all over that.

What school? What do you do on the team?
I'm a freshman, but I'm lucky enough to get to go to competition. Presenting the business case side of it for our team.

No. We have budget cuts across the board so resources were diverted to traditional co-op programs instead. Doesn't help that our results were never that great and we could never raise enough money.

needs moar downforce

Noiice. Do you guys compete at Michigan and Lincoln?
UF only does Michigan, but we got 2nd place last year :^]

Fuck yeah. We did not start last year, because we did not finish our car.. by far.. Hopefully this year we will finish our car and drive on FS-Germany. The best for us would be winning Effiency, if we drive without problems.

My school started a team last summer. We're doing the electric thing and its pretty exciting I tell you what. Our engineering department got a 400k grant and we'll have a full shop by fall semester (CNC, 4 post lift, welders etc).
We just finished up the budget for the proper car and its being presented to the relevant groups on campus so that we can get funding. I think we're at 40k or so but it's spec'd way the fuck out. I'm talking chromoly heim joints, the z-rack, keizer wheels. We could probably get by with significantly less but it's still exciting as fuck to see this start to take off considering its our first year and my school has less than 4000 students.
As of right now we have a modified go kart chassis with 2 electric golf cart motors and 3 deep cycle car batteries. The electric team got an "e-diff" working, which basically just reads the steering angle and jimmies up how much power is sent to each rear tire. Let me tell you, the thing fucking pivots considering how much of a shit heap it is.

I should specify - the grant is not sae specific, but it will help us out immensely.
Just made this T shirt design for our team

>>14778455
depends entirely on how you want to define your coordinate system
