Went to look at one of these today - 2008, 90k miles, body and interior in good condition, some shaking on highway that felt like unbalanced tires but I guess could be mounts.
Anything particularly bad about these cars that I should know? Other than the fact that even with a manual it feels slower than a Civic.

Rust
That's about it.
notorious for burning oil past 100k

He brought it from Texas. Zero rust.

Are they really? Can someone else pitch in on this?
Burning oil because of what, do piston rings take a shit? I couldn't smell any oil in bay after test drive. All the fucking fluid reservoir plastic has turned brown though, not that that's a big deal.
I wonder if I can reasonably assume vibration is shit balance.
One more thing - I am going to be that faggot and ask if there is anything I can do to that horrendous 140hp.
But I am guessing the answer is "no, not without rebuilding the engine."

Dad had an '04 that burned through oil. Not sure why, it was before they introduced the skyactiv engine

could be tires out of balance, toe rods, control arms, literally anything.
expect hundreds in repairs

I hope it isn't engine mounts, other than that, I don't really care. I am going to do tie-rods as basic maintenance anyway. I checked boots on control arms, they look fine. The moment I get the car, I will be:
>changing rotors, pads, tie-rods, all fluids, all filters
>taking in for alignment
>buying new tires
>paying dealer to do TB, water pump, and maybe thermostat
With all those things in mind, I am starting to wonder if it's worth it to just look at a new car.

That's the answer if it's got a Skyactiv engine

05 2.3L here.
No burning oil. Pic related.
Great BTW. Love it.

Do you ever clean your car?
