Don't do it. You should be able to find a good Ford sedan for this price if you absolutely want a sedan, or any Jap econobox... Around me, there are 2 S-types for sale, both with a blown engine (70k and 100k respectively).

My bud bought an older A4 from a police auction (in other words probably a dealer's old ride). Bought it "as is" for 3 grand. Worked like a charm for 100,000 miles (he got it up to 200) before getting into an accident and totaling it.

The car had one previous owner with 13,400 miles and was listed originally at the dealership for $29,990. They had it 'on sale' for $27,900 and wouldn't budge any lower than that price. I also added an extended warranty so with that and taxes my grand total came to right at $33k. I was dead set on getting a Premium with leather seats and upgraded sound system though and the previous owner had also installed a Raxiom navigation system and Flowmaster exhaust.
If you don't care about leather seats you can easily get a Coyote for under $25k, but you could still probably find a 2011 Premium in that price range if you wanted one.

The torque curve kind of drops off in higher RPMs, so while it doesnt have an amazing amount of hp they're decently quick. Get the right set of rear end gears and they really wake up.

1993 Buick LeSabre. 79k miles. $800. Got it a week ago.
Beautiful condition inside. Comfy. A couple of scratches on the other interior, nothing crazy noticeable though. Really enjoying it. Can't wait to go on long trips after I give her (thinking it's a him t b h lads) a tune up.
