Hella. They only way to get i plated is to have an out of state address and do the street registration there: Like in NJ and Vermont or whatever. Once you have that out of state title along with the street conversion, you can register it in NY as street legal

what anti-theft devices work the best? my country has high criminality levels, it fucking sucks that I cannot leave my bike unattended for long or I risk it getting stolen.. this last week I saw many reports of stolen bikes also, fuck those low-lifes

Not really sure how dumb or intelligent you are, but you apparently you are not particularly risk adverse, as your choice of riding gear and riding style demonstrate.
>>
>>14770867
Thick chain tied around unmovable object. That's the best since anything else can be bypassed by simply picking up the bike and putting it in a van.

However all chains and locks can be cut/ground off. Your best bet is a killswitch that's well hidden, something that you can't just disable in a few mins.

As for the helmet, tie it on the bike with a chain

I drain mine when it starts getting cold and don't revive it until I know I can ride it at least once every two weeks. I ride the Thunderbird year round while it sleeps.
>>
>>14770894
It keeps things from hitting your brake lever. Commonly referred to as a Rossi-foot deflector.
>>
>>14770876
Yes, although the reason I was going fast was because I thread the needle doing a very risky overtake prior to the curve not because I generally lanesplit like that. Room between cars wasn't enough for the bike, had to wobble the handlebars to avoid hitting mirrors.

Depends on the bike honestly. Preferably you should be able to get it through the frame somewhere but that's not possible with most bikes because of fairings. If you have to pick a wheel pick the rear, front one comes off way too easily.

Also if you're going out somewhere, you can remove the clutch lever with a small screwdriver and take it with you. A hassle, yes, but most thieves probably don't carry around spare clutch levers.
>>
>>14770942

You ride year round!? Don't you get cold? Or worry about black ice?

I got fucked up by black ice once, so I don't ride in the winter. Plus, in NYC, i'd probably be killed trying navigate two wheels on the icy streets.

I stay off the roads if there's any chance of ice, or if they've recently salted the streets. I have heated gear, with leather on top is very comfortable. We had a mild winter this year so I rode a fair amount. Got stuck riding through a snow squall a couple weeks ago, which was terrifying.

The XRR was never really designed for roads anyway.

Well you won't find many 250cc touring bikes but it can definitely do 80 with two people on, hell a friend of mine's done 80 on a Duke125 with two people on, though it took them a while to get there.

Clearly though not the best choice of bike for that particular task, I was mostly thinking of solo riding. 250s can make great commuters, great dirtbikes and they can do track too though it's probably not worth the expense.

Definitely one of the best 250s around. Reliable, good looking, cheap. Fast enough to comfortably go on boulevards or highways, though if you do that often maybe get something bigger.

Only downside is that it's a sportbike, meaning less comfortable riding position and zero storage space, without really having the performance of one.

bought my new daily driver (and my only means of transport.) 2004 ninja. identical to this one except a tiny tiny ding in the gas tank and a scratch on the muffler.

such excite. i had to ride it home from the seller on craigslist it was about 20 miles of a ride. i will admit at first i was wondering if i was gonna eat a dick and this was a bad idea. however id ridden scooters and older dirtbikes before so i took a shot.

boy am i glad i did. such a joy to open it up on a road with little cars in front of you. its lightweight and i never even stalled it once yet. and ive ridden it various places tonight as well to show the friends.

its a 2004 250R with 4k miles on it. almost showroom condition, bought it for $1600 bucks here in phoenix.

did i do good dbt famalam?

Amazon has em and so does Ebay. Search "bar end mirrors" and there should be the 2 kinds of em, the ones I have and the more CRG style ones. I really like these because the CRG style ones would vibrate loose where the mirror screws to the stalk and for whatever reason they screw em in from behind the mirror so you cant tighten them.

I don't really understand bar end mirrors, to me it seems like a poor idea because the mirrors are now out of your peripheral and you need to actually totally take your eyes off the road in order to scan them.

I dunno my faired SV has really good mirrors stock, maybe the naked ones don't have as good visibility backwards but I just like being able to scan them constantly in the peripheral then using the headcheck to seal the deal.

Assuming you're in the USA, check out PitsterPro's Min Rover 125. It's a pretty solid replica of the old Z50, but with a 125cc engine and is about as fast as a Grom so you can easily use it for commuting. They run about $1500 with $130 flat rate shipping which isn't bad for a brand new bike.

If you're over 5' 10" it might be uncomfortable though. I would absolutely not recommend one of these for a normal sized person as a commuter bike.
