I feel like this is most people who buy a Prius "to save money". Consumers are clueless about the fact that fuel savings don't quite scale up in proportion to miles driven.
Then there's the fact that idiots will often trade in perfectly serviceable vehicles to get into a brand new Prius, at an expense they will never recover from fuel savings. A co-worker of mine traded his '06 Camry (that he was probably still upside down on) for a then-new 2013 Prius. His commute is all freeway, including a return trip around 1 am with no traffic.
Prius is the best thing to happen to cab drivers in a long time, and I'm sure other short-run stop/go or heavy traffic applications fit it well. For average consumers though, the value proposition for these things seems seriously over-hyped.
