No one hates them.

We just don't understand their appeal
>>
I don't hate them

I'd just never spend what it costs to buy a porsche, on a porsche.

I don't hate them, but if I were to own one I'd probably debadge it so only people who car would know what it is. There is one porsche in my town and it's driven by some teenager and it looks like it hasn't been washed in a long ass time.

not the same fag. Nothing is wrong with a porsche at all (performance wise), its actually probably very very good on the road and on paper. Idk just feels like there's something missing. Maybe too perfect. Most people who fall in love with Porsche's are either gold diggers or just love the unique body design.

honestly just hate porsche because i think they're ugly
i'm not a car person though
i need design + performance, but i definitely respect how crazy porsches perform

I just hate the Porsche-fanboys, the Cayennes and the Panameras and their extremely conservative approach for design/styling.
(Why no interesting midengine-supercar?! Always the same boring 911-crap for 10 000 years... This company is more conservative than the pope.)

And I think they are big pussies for not joining the F1 (also Audi).

I just don't really "get" them, I've driven some cool ones, just don't really like how they drive, also been to some Porsche events/parties and Rennsport reunion, the community is just very stodgy, even moreso than Ferrari, the brit makes, or really any other marque. Guess that's just the German spirit, no fun or passion allowed.
>>
>>14762814
I like the purity/minimilism in the air cooled/boxer/transaxle setup but that's kinda lost these days.
They lost me at the 981/991 gen too. Aesthetically if nothing else, it seems a step back from 987/997
>>
I'm considering a 996/997 along with an E46 M3 for a weekend/project car.
>>
>>14762831
>We just don't understand their appeal

They make sports cars, with powerful engines and well designed chassis and suspensions, except without unnecessary features like expensive doors or a sealed hood.

Everyone who drove their cars says its great on the track and very DD'able, not to mention you can fix most of them at home if you have the tools and money.

Its the car manufacturer everybody wishes, except it already exists (and therefore receives hate)

I actually totally understand this. I felt exactly the same way about Porsche for most of my life and my "career" as a car guy. "Oh, they're squashed VWs for dentists." "Why would I spend that kind of money on a car when I could build a faster car for half the price?" etc.

I do a bit of automotive blog writing/photography, mostly just so I can go to cool events for free and get press access, and I happened to get sent to Rennsport Reunion IV back in 2011. I went there with a lot of skepticism toward the Porsche brand, but over the three days of the event, I was totally converted, and fell in love with the brand. The kind of Porsche enthusiasts that compete in these events are, for the most part, really awesome people, just like serious enthusiasts of any more "attainable" brand, and I was blown away by how down to earth and cool a lot of these guys are, even though they're billionaires with collections full of historic racing legends, and you'd totally expect them to be pretentious assholes. Porsche themselves are also really great to deal with, all of their people are super enthusiastic about what the brand represents and about motorsports, and as a side note they provided the best lunches I've ever found in a press center.

If that event wasn't enough, though, not long after that I got the chance to drive a 997 on my favorite canyon road, and it was really the final straw for turning me into a fanboy. Here was a factory stock car that fit me like a glove, sounded amazing, and suited my driving style so well that I couldn't believe it, and at the same time it was a totally usable daily driver without the compromises of the tuner cars I'd been running for most of my driving life.

I haven't gotten one yet, because I'm back in school and have a few years until I get out and can make a real income again, but I'm pretty much dead set on picking up a nice 997.2 C2S as soon as I've got some cash in the bank.
>>
I hate them but only because I owned and daily-drove an automatic 924.

If you gave me a Cayman I wouldn't turn it down, though.

I don't hate them, but they never really did much for me. I rather liked the 944 and 928, but I'd attribute that to being a fan of the FC RX-7 first. I mean, they're very accomplished, and assuredly make great cars (SUVs statusmobiles aside), but somehow I never really have been sad that I'll never own a Porsche in the same way that I'll be bummed to never own an F40 or a GT40 or even a Viper ACR. Eh, to each their own.

This is what a lot of the people on here just don't get. I can't explain exactly why an E46 M3 is fucking amazing, it just has a feel that a lap time can't account for.

Same reason why I still can't entirely get on the "American cars have changed" bandwagon. They might be acting more like the Japs and Krauts, but nice things on paper don't make a car.

I've got DOHC decals on the side windows of my 944S. Would it be dumb to put an additional Twin Cam sticker on the back window?

Just trying to make it feel a little more personal seeing as performance mods on the non-951 are pretty much out of the question. The 16V is basically the S's claim to fame.
