Prolly still more aerodynamic than air going through a grille to a radiator.

>>14761500
>people like familiarity
There's plenty of cars without that huge brick wall there.
If anything, this design is not the familiar one.
>>14761529
But it is.
>>14761532
Nope.
I just thought they were hiding the front with some blurry shit and that there was something wrong with it.
Until I noticed it was the actual front of it.
>>14761545
I was speaking about the whole design together. That's a family type car.
They could make the front bumper round but then it would look too much like a Porsche. >>14761517
>>14761396
we have enough threads about this hideous thing already
>>14761561
Yeah, the rest of the car looks perfectly familiar. It just the front wall there that looks so wrong. It looks like someone blurred the hell out of their grill/front plate.
Instead of following current design of cars with huge grills, maybe they should base themselves on older cars with smaller grills, so it looks better without one.
>>14761624
Reminds me of those DOT mandated safety bumpers imported cars were forced to fit in the 1970s. Fugly afterthought.
Musk and Trump have drowned on their own Kool Aid.
>>14761624
It looks like a Tesla. I'm not a fan of them but the design is good (except the dashboard). Not all cars have huge grills and Teslas obviously don't need them huge. Their previous cars had this black shape on front bumpers like an imitation of a grill. I'm not a fan of fake stuff like unnecessary scoops and wings thats only purpose is wannabe ''sporty'' looks. There shouldn't be unfunctional stuff in a good design.
>>14761711
I'm not saying that they should have a grill.
I am saying that they should have followed design trends of cars with smaller front grills, so it doesn't have something so out of place in front of it.
It looks like the car is trying to scream in pure rage, but can't, you could call it
Impotent Rage.
>>14761479
m-muh pedestrian safety
>>14761955
>design trends
The reason why most of the modern cars sucks.
It does have a small grill below the bumper. It's just the shape of the bumper that frightens you for some reason.
>>14761396
>I have no mouth and I must scream
>>14761976
I'm saying that that wall there looks out of place, because on current design trends, they tend to have a huge grill there, so without it looks like a huge wall, hence ugly as fuck.
So if they followed a design trend of cars with smaller grills/no grills, then it wouldn't have that wall that looks out of place without a grill.
The grill below the bumper is just fine.
>>14762017
>follow the trends or you suck
I really dislike you people.
>>14762061
I am pretty much saying that they shouldn't follow current trends.
My point about older trends is simply my offer of a practical solution, since there's plenty of inspiration to draw from there, so you can get a decent front bumper that doesn't look like a car with blurred plates on craigslist.
What's the chance of getting one of these after release if I don't pre-order? Would like to save up a bit more money
>>14762108
even if you pre-order you won't be getting one until 2020 i'm betting.
>>14762092
Yet they have to follow trends to appeal to the masses and so they could exist. I'm not saying that it's perfect but I can't imagine a better solution.
I previously compared the design to Porsches, now I see Aston Martin there. They could make the bumper simply round but then it may seem too bold and design-less. So yeah, I can't imagine a better solution.
>>14762157
Tesla still hasn't made a buck
Losses increased this year by 3x.
150,000 orders
They have to literally quadruple production to meet all orders by 2022.
Let's hope they can get those made before they go tits up.
>>14761449
I can easily see an open-source market of 3d printed parts for Tesla
Thanks for the idea famlya
>>14762192
Elon Musk is a mad man worth billions, all his companies barely generate profit but he doesn't give a fuck because he's a hardcore futurologist. He's managed to hold investors this long and it's finally paying off so nobody will jump ship, they know how important it is to become the first to do it properly and set industry standards so they can make money off of things like chargers, charging stations and even just brand recognition. We live in a time where it's less about generating profits (still important as fuck) and more about creating a recognizable platform that everyone is forced to use. It's taking the modern day software model (gauging value through amount of customers, brand recognition, rapid globalized expansion) and translating it to the automotive world. For Tesla it's less about making money and more about spreading awareness and creating a reliable electric vehicle and having a platform that can dominate the EV market.

>Doesn't need air, doesn't need a grille
It literally has a grille below the wall. Why not just put the grille where the wall is?
>>14762370
>and it's finally paying off
Oh it is?
Because last time I checked, Tesla will lose BIG money on every one of these new ones sold, because they're so fucking cheap comparatively.
They're doing what Google did with Android/Nexus.
The only difference is Google did it without skipping a beat while Tesla just keeps burning hundreds of millions a year.

The Fiat X1/9 is insane, it's got like 2 feet of bumper on both ends

>hey /o/, my car has a virus and wont start until I pay this russian teenager $500
Applicable to all modern cars.
>which web browser is best for my car?
Is this supposed to be a downside?
>I spent the weekend in the garage upgrading the graphics card on my infotainment screen, mechanic general
That thing has a system-on-a-chip, the graphics processor is tightly integrated with the CPU and memory, to the point that they're the same chip. Also applicable to all modern cars.

Not only that, but many other manufacturers have had their cars remotely broken into. Hasn't happened to Tesla. The flipside of bitching about silicon valley being in your car is you get a car with no security.
