I'm curious to see what /o/ has to say about the Elio. It's a 3-wheeled car designed for low air resistance, high gas milage, and cheap production cost (>$7,000 new). They say it'll run on a 3-cylender, but it weighs only ~1,250lbs.
Either for function or for style, would you drive this car?
Pic of the engine. Seems like there's a decent amount of space for an engine swap possibly.

They want everything, first it was muh safety so cars got heavy with giant bumpers, then they wanted emissions so engines were detuned which gave them bad performance/mileage but polluted less, then they want good gas milage so cars turned into tin cans and now they want safety again.

No reason to doubt their claims at all. Tons of low drag vehicles around the same weight have achieved equal or better fuel economy. Low tuned diesel shitboxes covered in riveted together plexiglass body kits can reach 100mpg.
