I'd actually argue that the pajero was easily the more capable offroader than the land cruiser until recently. Toyota only caught up with the new land cruisers while mitsubishi stagnated with the pajero.
While the wrx sti might seem like a better daily driver the more track oriented evo outperformed it everywhere else.
