I need to file an insurance claim with the other person (rear ended me at a light) but I'm hesitant to call and bring up that I need a rental car while they figure this all out. Are they going to give me a hard time getting a rental? I'm not good on the phone.
>>14751621 they might not give you one depending on your policy
>>14751621
If it's in your policy they'll give you one while it's in the shop. If it's drivable they have you keep driving it till then.

>your policy
>other person's fault

I just have the most basic insurance on my now totaled 1998 Altima

Yup. You are pretty good at the reading. That's how it works.
>>14751621
man the fuck up and ask them anyways
the worst thing they can say is no
>>14751670
Not knowing how greentext or financial responsibility of at-fault accidents works.

>not knowing about insurance policies

Right. So make a claim on your own insurance and enjoy the price increase rather than making the other person's insurance pay for it.
>inb4 b-but they'll fight for me

Last time I was in an accident, the woman who handled my claim tried to weasel out of giving me a rental. I just asked the guy at the bodyshop about it and he hooked me up. I don't get why they're so jewish about it, like I really want be driving a base model chevy cruze.

>other party is at fault
>claim on your own insurance
>being this much of a beta

Where I live the government mandates no-fault insurance. So even if I'm not at fault, my insurance pays for the repairs. My rates didn't go up. It's convenient, however I believe no-fault has higher rates overall.

You don't even need to make claims for your insurance rates to go up. If you get hit by some else twice in 6 mos (no fault of your own) your rates are going up. Insurance is gambling and risk. Numbers are dispassionate.

I'm hoping I just get s newer Altima/midsize sedan and not a small car because my 90s Altima is a small car by today's.
