its an e60, and its awd by default if its from america, meaning drastically reduced suspension upgrade options and added weight.

why not supercharge an e39 wagon?
>>
>>14748849
that looks like such a retarded place to mount your tag... I like your car but that tag just takes away from the car.
>>
>>14748866

Yes, a US spec E61. The air suspension is the bane of my existence. The upgraded sway bars help a ton.

The AWD is necessary for the amount of snow we've been seeing these winters. Being a safe family man and all, I run dedicated snow tires with the AWD.

>>14748867

I didn't want to drill into the bumper or block the FMIC. Using the front tow hook, quite standard for BMW fags like me.
>>
>>14748910
>dedicated snow tires with awd
kind of unnecessary but alright. snow tires on rwd works totally fine (they're actually on my car in that pic), with the added bonus of being easy to hoon with if you want to

I somewhat agree, my wife drives the rwd c32 AMG.

We did some tests this winter and confirmed RWD + snow > AWD with all seasons. Snows were cheap and I had spare wheels. The wagon is unstoppable.

Beautiful wagon btw. Supercharged?

Us having a fast grocery getter is a great side perk :)

>>14749010
Having worked 3 roots style supercharger projects in the past I would strongly advise against it. Turbo is the only way to go. Blower sizing and the need to get it within reach of the drive belts caused endless headache. After that, belt slippage, and a very low ceiling for tuning and finally limited options for cooling and methanol injection really killed it for me.

The stoutness of the current generation turbo platform really leaves previous generation motors playing a losing game of catchup.

>>14749118
The M5 wagon was never available in the US or I would've bought one. I don't think the XFR-S is available in the US either. The US has proven that we can't have nice things.

Also, helps to mention that my E61 is a 6speed manual.

JB4, methanol injection, E85 flash, FMIC, Front and rear sway bars. And worst yet, a 3yo and a 6month old passenger...

I did consider the magnum at some point, but really wasn't digging the front grille and I don't think they made it with a manual transmission.

Instead I was looking for some CTS-V Wagons, but the prices were sky high for the manual tranmission variants (currently still in the $45k range)

>>14749439
No electrical problems. Mine is 2008. You should know better than to buy a first generation of a new model! My understanding is that they've made a ton of small incremental changes since 2004.

To be clear though, my E61 still suffers from the normal N54 issues. Wastegate rattle, fuel pump failure, water pump failure, fuel injector failure, ignition coil failure and carbon build up in the intake manifold. All but the carbon build up were covered by BMW's CPO program and extended manufacturer's warranty.

The turbos would have been $6k out of pocket.

LC888 look good with the right tire. You definitely have a fair point on the tires though. Hate them but cant justify spending money on more rubber.

Gotta maintain some driveability. Steepdriveway.gif snow.png. Plus, stanced look make me throw up all over myself.

>>14749791
I 100% agree. The E6X got really really really bloated and totally floats. The N54 can't get over 450whp reliably on stock turbos either, although 600whp is only $3000 away with Hexon or RB turbos without the need for supporting mods or motor work. Not too shabby.

OP back from the dead, surprised this wasn't pruned. I am mixing E85 with 93 octane. I am running the OEM fuel pump which cannot put out the volume needed for a complete E85 switchover. Mixing E85 with 93 octane is quite common for this platform. I target a E40 mixture.

E85 is much much cheaper ($1.20/gal recently) than race gas and widely available where I live. If I had the time and money, I would convert all my toys over to E85. The power gains are unreal.
