Engine rebuilds don't happen because you're refreshing the life of the engine. They happen to address some other service need that's so deep on an engine and or has very high miles. Seals, piston, rod, that sort of things

Actually it's to make it where it's easier to drive to Mexico or Canada. Some cars are also sold with the same clusters in both Buenostan and Syrupstan as they are here in Burgerstan. There was also a push to go metric in the 60s, with some road signs still being in both metric and imperial.
