True?
they were never good m8

They are all shit.
All BMW is shit
What drives people to delude themselves into thinking otherwise will forever be a mystery to me.
Yes. You could make a case for the 1-series (E82), but that's about it.
>>14747831
That is actually one of the few recent ones I like
>>14747816
Nah, the current M3 is a masterpiece
>>14747816
What about the e30s and e28s?
>>14748842
Came before the E38, E39, and E46, so they wouldn't be the last by any means.
>>14747816
All M's are great. The new base models are more boring than the previous gen base models though
>>14747826
They're not all shit.

This. List of currently acceptable BMWs:
>128i
>135i
>M235i
>M2
>M3
>M4
>M5
>M6
true
I really like the 1M, e39 M5 and M6 GC
>>14747816
e90-series M3/4 is still N/A, which makes them gud in my opinion.
I realize that newer turbo'd BMWs have more potential, but they'll never have that signature NA exhaust note, and they pump in fake noise, and the turbos mean more complicated maintenance, which makes them much more difficult to maintain.
I like the older BMWs for their relative simplicity and longevity. That's what makes them great, IMO.
>>14748872
Couldn't be more wrong.
M2
S1000RR
GS1200
that's it.
>>14748925
Isn't the M2 just a cheaper M4.
>>14748932
More like a refreshed 1 series M, unless you're referring to the e46 M3.
It's like the worst of both worlds of a 1 series M and a modern M4. It's smaller than an F80, while being still heavier than an e46, with a maintenance-hog turbo engine, and lots of fiddly "creature comfort" electric bullshit to break and/or make the experience less immersive (pumping in fake noise, electric steering, etc.).
I'll hold off final judgment until I actually drive it, but I'm torn between wanting to buy one and wanting to just spend $20k on refreshing/upgrading my e46 M3.

>being a fuccboi
>no E60 M5
imo, the E60 is one of the all time greatest BMWs.
There are plenty of V8 sedans... I see Holden Commodores daily. Putting a V10 in a sedan is just the most stupendously outrageous thing ever.

Please try being more subtle next time

Not trolling. N/A BMWs are pretty simple, and the engines last hundreds of thousands of miles. Yeah, VANOS is kind of a bitch, but if you replace the parts that break with the same parts with tighter tolerances, it works fine.
Z4M Coupe was pretty good, it drives a lot like a edgier harder slightly quicker E46 M3.
The best current BMW has to be the M235i/M2. The M3/4 isn't that bad, but just too physically big and technological IMO. The 1/2-Series is more basic/bare bones and depends more on proper chassis/suspension tuning.
Only new BMW worth buying.

The Z4M is slower than the E46 M3 on track though
thats like the entry level hipsterfag chart
