99 is better
>>
Honestly 99 is a better car though.
>>
>>14743466
The leather interior is so much nicer than the suade
>>
>>14743464
I've had a 5th gen, and am currently fixing up a 4th gen.

They're very fun to drive cars, but to call them fast or racecars is a mistake.
The H22 burns a lot of oil but its a damn good motor. 5th gens have pretty bad headroom also.
Otherwise, solid, practical car.

Also looking for a 'lude, although a 4g (can't stand those headlights on the 5g). Non molested vtec ones are pretty much impossible to find these days...
>dat goddamn dashboard
>>
>>14743588
how does the acceleration feel? Is it really sensitive?
>>
>>14743891
3g: yeah its peppy. youre at like 4k at 70mph though, so as a highway commuting car i wouldn't recommend it,
5g: yeah but less than the 3rd since it makes its torque at a higher RPM. Watch out if you get an SH because parts are a bitch to find sometimes. There's very little handling or speed difference between the SH and base model, so overall just avoid the SH

I was looking at maybe an SE, should I avoid it like the SH?
>>
>>14744487
SE models don't have those weird suspension parts or atts IIRC, so that should be fine.
Look out for rear quarter panel rust, and make sure it's had a timing belt and water pump change if it's past about 100k.
>>
>>14744389
>what is ATTS
If you get an SH that has a functioning ATTS there is a notable difference in handling from the base model.
>>14744487
But honestly I would still avoid SH. Parts are too hard to find, and base responds to mods better.

Yes
>>
>>14744845
No, there isn't. Mine failed maybe 30k miles after I bought the car. It doesn't do much. It's a great car, but the difference that ATTS provides is not a big one.
>>
I'm looking to buy this 86 prelude tomorrow. 141k miles, looks pretty much brand new inside and out

I'm the anon in the thread earlier with a 3rd gen. They're great little cars, but the VSS fails a lot so keep in mind that that mileage number may not be 100% true. Also there were models that came carbuerated, so make sure you know how to fuck with a carbuerator.
>>
>>14745756

This is the Si 2.0 version. does that make any difference?
>>
>>14743668
That dash alone makes me want one.
>>
>>14745781
Ayyy, same here senpai. It should come with a variant of the b20 motor, which is pretty reliable.
If the CEL comes on, you dont even need a code scanner
Peel back the passenger floor mat and there will be a blinking light which references error codes you can find online.
>>
piss yellow is the best colour for preludes
>>
>>14745893

It will not have a B series. It will have the A20A3. Fuel injected because it's an Si.

You can switch out most shit in engine bay from 86-88 prelude OR accord LXi (FI accord). Can also get some parts off Carbed accords ( tranny with lower final drive ratio (2.8 vs FI's 3.x)) some stuff is different so you gotta do your homework.

ENJOY THEM POP UPSSSS

Very fun car to drive, especially through twisty roads.

Keep a bottle of engine oil in the trunk. Thr engine burns oil.

Reliable as hell. Had mine for 115k miles, never had problems. Wouldve kept it for longer but had to get a bigger car
>>
>>14743464
Yes I do to both questions.

>>14744487
>should I avoid it like the SH?
Why would you avoid the SH? It's the best trim, unless you plan on doing major engine mods/turbo.

>>14745679
>the difference that ATTS provides is not a big one.
2 seconds faster on a 1:30 track with ATTS on. It makes a big difference. My SH has 150k miles and ATTS still works great, it should need absolute minimal maintenance.

I was planning on repainting mine Apex Blue Pearl, but I changed my mind.

Now I'm not sure what to do with my pile of carbon bits. Might be too aggressive for Crystal Blue Metallic. I guess I could paint them, but that would feel wrong
>>
I love the front headlights on the prelude
>>
>>14746782
That's a beautiful car, man. Dont need to change a thing on her.
>>
>>14746803
Thanks. But then what do I do with the carbon hood, lip, skirts, and valences I have sitting in my garage? I feel like I'm in an awkward spot where they might not quite work either way (painted or bare).

I have engine stuff planned too, but that won't change looks (aside from the exhaust). Parts-to-buy list is a mile long for whenever I can start working on it.

I got a h22 96 prelude.....?
