Once the beltlines/hoods are 6ft high, how will they make the accident as pleasant as possible?
Will cars magically engulf them, with a huge luxury bed under the hood?
Do we have hood-airbags already? Or was that just a prototype/concept car thing?
And we will have to pay for it too.

They should just have a spring under the hood that will release upon impact and "gently" bounce the pedestrian away from danger

The most efficient pedestrian safety feature would be some kind of robot arm quickly coming out of the car that slaps the mobile phone out of the pedestrian's hands, allowing them to be aware of the traffic and react accordingly, preventing a collision with the car.

Car technology is trending away from accident survival and towards just pure accident prevention. So, it will probably just prevent you from ever hitting a pedestrian (or itself, since you won't be driving in 3-4 years).

I'm in favour of spikes and ramming prows on cars, so pedestrians even venturing near it when parked will get savaged.

>Kids pranking driverless cars
Two kids were arrested today after daring each other to jump in front of driverless cars. This causes the vehicle to stop or swerve abruptly making its occupants mildly uncomfortable.
No one was hurt in any of these incidents. Police say it is a daily occurrence and are doing their best to crack down on the problem.
