Can be anything! Low belt lines, carbs, light dimmer switch on the floor, simplicity, etc.
front bench seats so you can cozy up with your girl
Not beeping the shit out of you just for opening the door with the key still in the ignition or putting a backpack on the passenger seat without belting it down.

Tell me about it. I travel for work, rent "full size" cars. Get a camry, can barely fit my toolbox and one bag with it.
But they advertise enough room for 3-4ppls shit in the trunk
>>14737945
A bit of cheating because of the style, but look at alll the shit you could store in the boot of my mothers old 9-3
the variety of colors they had
Fantastic body styles before safety regulations and wind tunnels turned everything into a blob.
nothing
old cars are objectively shit

Styling
Disregard for pedestrian safety
Bench Seats
Everything else I could do without/think does need to get with the times.
Good AC/fuel economy/interior safety works for me. It's a shame the only modernized retro car styles are insanely expensive like that Equus Bass or whatever it's called that's 250,000 bucks.

only someone who rides the bus would think otherwise

Smoker's windows. I don't even smoke but on my 73 Beetle they were awesome.

3 knob HVAC. Non-bloated steering wheels. LEG ROOM. thin a pillars. Low beltlines. Lighter weight. More common RWD cars. Larger engine bays. Vehicles designed with serviceability in mind. Louder exhausts, people could hear you coming, not necessarily in an obnoxious way. Harder to total.

>I had fun once it was awful
Buttons.
Pop ups.
R-12.
dat exhaust smell
>>14738346
I was young when the cars you miss were new. Modern rides last longer and are far more reliable and dependable. Old shit was easier to work on out of necessity. I remember when "service stations" changed to "gas stations" as the need for frequent tweaking dropped off.
>>14737916
No gigantic pillars for curtain airbags and rollover protection
No bullshit "infotainment" systems, just a radio and maybe a defroster
And this >>14737921
being able to fucking see everything.
actual design. car design was like a fucking artform. nowadays its all design by committee with few exceptions. and is made worse by overbearing safety regulations and "aerodynamics".
every car has to be wind tunneled, and if its a sportscar of any kind, it has to be nurburged. Even Murrikan musclecars, which are good for one thing- fast in straight lines, want to be taken seriously as aerodynamic nurburg contenders now.
>>14739043
Seconded.
There's a reason older cars rolled over after 99k miles.
Still amazes me that something with 120k miles could be considered "low milage".
>>14739060
>actual design.
You're forgetting how many seriously bland cars were made from 1970-2005.
>>14739019

most were 1995-2005
70-95 was really nice

the 80s marked the death of design

But that's good looking
>>14739083
>pic unrelated
even the blandest 90's shitbox is better designed than half of today's "best"
>>14739106
id say the 90's. the 80's had some good designs, but the 90's marked the start of rounded cars and loosened headlamp regulation, leading to today's angry bubbles

>implying the c4 wasn't amazing

its the ugliest Corvette
its not even up for debate
>>14739143
I dunno... The later years of the c3 were pretty bad. And the c1 was cool only cause it was the first but other than that pretty boring.
>>14739143
no thats the C6 with its incredibly bland design and lack of popups. the C7 loses points for dropping the round taillights, but at least it has some decently aggressive styling that works very well for it.

>>14740079

Ok- I miss the high beams switch on the floor.
I miss even my Mom's 70 Dodge Coronet had an awesome 30-90 roll-on, and would go about110 topped out. My Dad put glass packs on it and it idled like a top fuel dragster.
I had a 70 Chevelle and it was fun and pretty fast. It would do a power brake burnout that was really something. It cornered on it's door hanldes though.
