86 uses inferior suspension to the s13 (like honestly, who the fuck wants a 4 link live axle lol), s chassis and most good japanese sports cars used multilink rear/mcpherson or double wishbones in the front during the mid 80s to early 2000s
the north america gets 86, the top trim model came with max 128 hp, where as the slowest north american s13 comes with 140hp. in japan, the 86 gets BTFO even by the tiny CA18.
86 is short wheelbase and snappy, s13 has a long wheelbase and wider track. there's a reason why the s13 is more popular as a platform for a drift car or a grip car.
the s13 is easier to modify, which is essentially what ends up happening to all these cars, with better aftermarket support.
i never understood why people like the 86, aside from weeb initial d shit. its worse than an s13 in literally every way. it drives worse and it looks much uglier.
