I'm looking to move out, but I've been borrowing my parents' car to go to work. A pickup is preferred for availability to do odd jobs.
I was looking at 80's models but they seem to have what I can only call a "Gen X Tax". What's a good cheap truck? Sub 5k if possible.
87-95
Gmc/chevy 1500
5.7 4x4 gets up to 16 mpg carbed
A little more fuel injected.

You guys need to expand your search. There is no reason you can't find an 80's model pickup cheap.

Are you serious? Have you actually been on craigslist? There's literally millions of squarebody trucks out there, anywhere from $500 to $15000+, quit being a faggot and go do some legwork.
If you don't need 4x4, you've already saved money.
Aren't after a shortbox? Saved money.

OP here, that anon isn't me.
In any case, I have looked on Craigslist and live in a rural area nearest a majority black metropolitan area. I don't want to drive 30 miles in any direction to go check out a car and get stabbed desu.

You'll find more trucks in the rural area.

If the ad is in proper english you're fine, if it sounds like a 50 year old who doesn't understand the internet even better.
The square body chevy from 78? To 87? had the side saddle tanks that gm got sued for.
Its a pinto style fire hazard. Not the suburbans though, gas tank in the rear on them.

Blazers also didn't have the "sidesaddle" tanks. Blazer gas tank is a common mod to the 73-87 trucks.

Squarebody tax bro here, in Phoenix spics love these trucks and have driven up the price tremendously. Same with texas as far as I know.
The people claiming there's no square body tax probably don't live in the rust belt.
>want a 4wd square body that's in fair condition and not rusting out? $6k+ plz
Much better idea would be to find a 1997-98 Chev/GMC truck. 1500 or even better a 2500. I see those in great rust free shape with less than 170k miles for $5000 or less all the time.

73-87 or 88-98 Chevy/GMC full size.
3/4 ton preferred.

>paying that much for something with that sort of mileage
>>14735946
you mean the gas tanks that aren't actually a safety hazard at all?
I've got 20 gallons on both sides of my truck, come at me pussy
