I'm looking for a lightweight el-cheapo ff shitbox to learn stick on. Seeing a lot of 98-04 Ford Escort ZX2s for 1-2k and the specs/reviews look promising.

I'm sure I'm being retarded
Tell me why I should buy a Twingo/Volvo/Honda/Miata/meme of the day instead.

Realtalk: anyone with actual experience with a ZX2 enlighten me on the pros/cons. I've done a lot of research but /o/ always brings up something I'm overlooking.

Faster than non-Si Civics of the era. Kinda shitty to work on though. Basically the same engine that's in the 1st gen Focus but it has VCT on the exhaust cam unlike the Focus.

Bro I'll sell you a Ford focus zx3 with a stick shift right now for 2k. It's a great car for learning on, very forgiving, runs great. It's got an aftermarket exhaust but I know if you're looking for a beater you're not too concerned about that. One benefit of the exhaust though is that it's easier to hear the revs so you'll be able to learn when to shift based on sound better.

Well I have a 2nd gen ford escort so I don't know about the zx2 personally but I think escorts are a good car to learn on since they are so fucking cheap you won't feel bad when you fuck it up learning. Plus there are fuckloads of them in junkyards so you won't be wanting for parts.

Miata is the best choice imo. After you learn on it you can beat the shit out of it until it dies. Sure it's slow but it handles well and you can turn them into drift sluts if you want.

What's funny is that I currently DD a Volvo. If I get sick of clutch pogo or 2nd rate interior I can just go back to my Swede machine for a day. Currently using it to teach GF how to drive and I wouldn't mind if she wrecked it. Miles are getting high, engine is burning oil and transmission has metal shavings in the atf. It drives perfectly, but the days are numbered.

Plus mpg isn't that great and I'd rather she wreck a safer car than some subcompact 90s tin can.

theyre decent, ive had mine for a while now and aside from the noisy fucking zetec its a nice petty eco box. also fairly roomy, i'm 6'5" and fit very comfy.
