I'm picking up a 5th gen Celica tomorrow.
Tell me how much of an idiot I am.
I don't know about non-turbo versions, but a friend owned a GT-Four version for a year or so. His mechanic that he takes all his sports cars to requested he sell the car. Mainly because the engine bay is so fucking cramped and near z32 300zx levels of hard.

Buying a god know what old fwd "sports" car.
Yeah, you're on the broad spectrum of idiocracy.
>>14734137
The impression I get of it is that it's a Scion Tc of it's day.
Camry engine with a manual transmission.
>>14734083
What model/engine?
>>14734151
GT with the 2.2 5s-fe.
>>14734150
some of them had the 3S-GTE, and some were AWD
Who cares how much an idiot you are
Look at the thing

>Spending 5k on a 25 year old mid engine camry

Jesús..
NA all the way, How much more power is that mess worth?
>>14734312
I'll answer my own question.
200 hp 200 lb/ft compared to 130/144
>>14734286
i never said it was that great, but it's better than that celica
>>14734401
The list of cars that are better than the celica is long.
The list of cars that are more practical than the sw20 is almost anything.
>>14734460
SW20s have a good amount of luggage room for a 2 seater t.bh. It's not a miata or mr-s
I have the All Trac version/
Solid car. kinda ugly, shitty looking proportions.
The newer ones have a better engine and all.
the regular celica aint bad. my friend bought one for $500 with rod knock, drove it home 1000 miles, and then drove it to work for another 2 weeks until the knock got worse while he put together a new junkyard engine.
shit lasted 2 years before he traded it for an AWD Laser + $800 in cash.

this is nothing.
its not that hard to work on. entire turbo assemble comes out easy. helps to remove the radiator first.
timing job is easy, only hard part is removing the belt covers, takes time.
the only hard jobs is removing the intake, and doing a clutch job.
its easier to remove the entire engine to do these than spend 4 hours in complete frustration trying to slide the trans back in place, or blindly reaching for the intake bolts, and then trying to clean off the old gasket.
removing intake is easy
removing the alternator is easy
removing the air to water is easy
IF it's a GT-Four enjoy your cool little race car
if it's not, enjoy your slow old shitbox

A mate of mine has one of those; (chassis code is st184 for the 5sfe engine btw)
Very reliable, great handling and decent power
Good choice op

She's gonna have some oil leaks. Fix them, all of them, and she will last you a long time. Good choice, I've always liked these cars. Pop up headlights for life! PUHLFL

I'm coming from only owning old American cars.
My driveway has more spots than a dalmatian.

>>14734996
Because I like having things that last a long time.
Plus I've never owned a car with a hairdryer, and I don't think I want to start with my daily.

>making excuses

Only good thing about 90's i4's and i6's was the TARBOS
