Because it's a lot easier to add AWD to a transverse FWD setup, especially if you have experience with it, than to engineer an all new longitudinal setup with a new RWD and AWD transmission, when 80% of your buyers don't give a shit what wheels are driven

These are beautiful cars with tech that is way ahead of their time, for a good price. Problems begin when people start trying to up the boost. Obviously when anybody sells it, they will turn it back down. Unless it's a trusted seller, be careful.
