so /o/, in your opinion, what is your favorite american muscle car? Ive always been a fan of the '71 hemi cuda, shelby cobra is also a beauty
>looks like muscle
>drives like a Corvette
How is the AMX not the objectively correct answer?
'71 and '72 Mustang. Preferably Boss 351 or Mach 1. Underappreciated. '73 model year a shit but I'd settle with it at this rate.
>Tfw ever since I got a job, the prices for them suddenly spiked up thousands of dollars
I bet the Jews did this!
Alternatively '71 Javelin.
>Curvy yet bold, and all dat ass
>Supposedly it can handle well for a landyacht
wew lad
Mustang anyday

Its hard for me to pick a favorite. The Nova/Chevelle embodies what a muscle car is but both are basic bitches. El Camino has more pizazz and the same engines as them.
Favorite Ford: Galaxie
Mopar: Road runner
Gm: el Camino but if it has to be a car then Cutlass
>>14731569
I can't wrap my head around how anybody thinks the '71 'cuda looks good. they took the gorgeous '70, and made it look like a trailer park special. fuck the "rare" meme, that car is ugly.
>>14731607
thats not a muscle car
thats how
1967 Pontiac GTO. The GTO was literally designed and released secretly against the wishes of GM being the first muscle car ever.
>>14731915
what is the difference between designing and releasing something secretly, and literally designing and releasing something secretly?
>>14731896
Says who? Because it's not barge sized enough and handles too well?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_car
You'll find the AMX in this article.
>>14732001
really nigga
>the AMX a sports car in the Grand Touring tradition
>The AMC AMX is a two-seat GT-style sports car that was produced by American Motors Corporation for the 1968 through 1970 model years.
are you retarded and think everything with a V8 is a muscle car
>>14732014
>Pony car muscle models
>1968–1970 AMC AMX
>>14732017
>pony car
>muscle
that list also calls a Gremlin a muscle car ffs
>>14732028
Most car groupings are rather flexible, why should the muscle car term be an exception?
>>14732042
making groupings is retarded when they make no sense
guess I can call this a muscle car if I want to it has a V8
>>14731915
But the GTO wasn't the first muscle car. DeSoto and Chrysler were cramming 351 and 392 he is in cars in the 50s for the express purpose of being an every man street racer. Look at the Firedome or the 300 letter cars. Some would say Oldsmobile made the first muscle car but it certainly was not a Pontiac, as much as I love and respect them.
Back on topic, my favorite muscle car from the era is the 1965 Hemi Belvedere II because it was the first use (outside the Dodge Coronet A990 of the same year) of the 426 Race Hemi in a street. I prefer the Plymouth because it was a full interior car as opposed to the NHRA prepped (aka stripped) Coronet. Pic related, the Dart GT-S comes in a close second.
1973 Trans Am S.D. 455 in Brewster Green.
71 Plymouth Satellite or a GSX desu
>>14732163
>or GTX
FTFY
>1968-1972 Oldsmobile 442
I think they're the perfect combination of luxury and sport.
>>14732180
Buick GSX is cool tho
>>14731569
This baby...
>>14732222
Entered the thread to say this.
>tfw you will never, ever own a mint white over blue 442 with the Rocket 455 and a Hurst four-speed on the floor
>you will never live in the timeline where GM didn't interfere and Olds was able to produce the 700HP OW43
Why even live, seriously.
Any of them they all look like something you want to drive. The worst thing about the last couple decades of fuel efficiency/passenger safety/pedestrian collision standards is that it has turned the styling of most cars into something that looks more like a washing machine than a vehicle.
>>14731569
>No Australian muscle allowed
>>14732509
Because the thread says American muscle. Aussie muscle blows the doors off most 'murrikan muscle and I say that as an American.
>>14732562
Our 265ci chargers were as fast as the American 440ci chargers over the quarter mile
Amazing
>>14732222
>>14732374
if it wasnt for these a 442 would be my choice as well
Olds did damn good job on them
>>14731569

1979 Monte Carlo. Don't know whether that qualifies as muscle to you pedantic fucks, but definitely the best looking car in the last century.
cars that handle can't be muscle cars
>>14731569
1969 boss 429
1968 428 cobra jet
1967 mercury cougar 427
1972 maverick
The new cobra jet makes my peepee tingle
1965 GTO
I like all kinds of cars but I had a model of this in black with the hurst shifter- it's always my go to when I think of muscle cars
>>14733003
Forgot pic. Also 1967 mustang GT in highland green bullitt style is hard to beat
>>14732109
I think the 63 cuda is regarded as the first
>>14732907
Gorgeous car indeed. Muscle, depends on who you ask. I think yes but daddy boomer probably no because muh 60s golden age. But they were rwd, potentially manual, and v8, but more leaning toward luxury.
I thought Superbird was /o/'s favorite
>>14731607
Seriously they're all pretty awesome but as a fox body owner I understand your pain that despite possessing the same entire drivetrain and suspension as a "muscle car", muscle car snobs will often exclude cars from the club for the unforgivable sin of being too LIGHT. Fuck that.
>>14731569
One of..
>>14733208
My second favorite 80's American car.
And this is the first >>14733225
71 cuda, 71 stang and first gen Cougar are my faves. The Cougar doesnt get enough recognition.
>>14733441
Agreed. Just saw one today. I think they look better than mustangs imo
>>14733208
the 67 cuda is probably the most under appreciated musclecar in terms of aesthetics
>>14733441
Cougars are sex. They had a leg up on camaros until 69 if I am remembering right
1967 Elco c:
>>14732562
Man is there American muscle that they DON'T blow the doors off of?
>>14734801
That's a 66.
>>14731569
I dunno if pony cars really count, but if they do, 1970 Boss 302 Mustang.
