This is the case with all manufacturers. China produces 5 times as much steel as the US, and US produces more than Germany. You think your car parts are cast/machined/stamped in Germany? They're not.
"Made in X" just means it was assembled in X. Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure BMW now produces more cars in North America than it does in Germany. So BMW is more "Made in America" than anywhere else.
Yet they still sell them grossly overpriced here. Only rich chink kids and immigrants with terrible leases drive new BMWs here. And only masochists drive used ones.
