My only problem with the Camaro are its looks. If it looked less like a boat, and more like a sleek sports car then I'd consider it. I'm happy getting less performance with the Mustang GT because at least it's not an eyesore. The new Camaro is literally a benchracer's wet dream.

The Mustang interior is pretty alright. Both interiors are above average but aren't anything special. The Mustang interior looks a little dated to me but they've updated the materials to softer stuff and leather.

I don't think you understand how gearing works with a high rev limiter. The 5.0 might not make as much torque next year, but its higher rev limiter will catapult it ahead just as it was ahead vs the LS3.
Also, no direct injection is nice. If you don't understand why, google carbon buildup on Audi performance vehicles to see how you lose 40whp in 30000 miles.

New Camaro has magnetic ride, which substantially improves handling on a car like this. Although the new 6th gen is still slower around streets of willow than the 5th gen 1LE, they do handle better than the current GTPP. Add the magnetic ride to the GTPP, which has already shown great results in the GT350/350R, and you have yourself a competition. This will likely happen for the 18 GT.
The GT is 3-6k cheaper typically trim to trim (depending if you get the performance package or not) right now which allows you the cash to make the necessary upgrades to bring it up to fighting the new 6th.
But either way, the GT doesn't have DI, which automatically makes it a winner.

I'm not confident in Ford leap frogging the Chevrolet. The GTPP was slower than the previous gen Camaro SS, never mind the 1LE.
The GT350 was faster than a two year unchanged Z/28, but only just barely, and the new gen of Camaro is now the lighter car.
The GT350 is pretty amazing, but Ford has otherwise been falling short of intended benchmarks.

I'm oddly fascinated by the 2.0L camaro, by the sound of it, it already beats the ecobost mustang despite being down like 40hp because its so light, and gets to 60 between 5 and 6 seconds, which sounds plenty fast to me. Ive seen 400hp out of those 2.0 too. Sounds like what we wanted the BRZ to be all along.
the stang wont ever compete 1 to 1, and it has a lot to do with parts bins. ford has the mustang, and trucks for RWD, thats literally it. GM has the Corvette, the whole Cadillac line, the aussie zeta is still around, and its trucks. So, of course the camaro has better bones, its an ATS coupe with immature styling 50% off that can mount v8s.
it will be another gen before the stang has a hope, by then ford might even drop v8 COMPLETELY, this feels like a transitioning period out of v8s. I think ford is better off focusing on a price advantage though, rather than trying to build a better camaro. Need to get that weight down though first and foremost.
I would like to see a ~380hp ecobost 2.7 stang added though, that seems like it would make the ideal tuning platform, at least until Nissan proves its smart enough not to make the Z a crossover and put that 3.0TT in it. And why hasn't GM created an LT in ether 4.8L, 5.3L and 5.7L? The 6.2 seems too good for SS, and steps on the vet's toes, it probably should have been the Z28 engine. An LT at 5.7L would probably be about even with the GT coyote.
