Same thing that happened/is happening to Nissan, and to a lesser extent to Toyota, they quit taking any risks.
The entire line-up is 'safe'. Nothing that presents any sort of sales risk. It all panders to the lowest common denominator in terms of driving sales volume. Now from a business sense there isn't anything necessarily wrong with that, but when you stop taking any risks, you'll never make anything that will be considered 'enthusiast' oriented
They're still the top japanese car manufacturer.

First of all, mazda is absolutely not trash. I would take mazda 3 over bmw 1 series or merc. benz A series any day of the week.
Subaru is ok, could be better.
Honda is god tier. Their lineup is good with sedan, sport and now amazing hatch civics. Civics are well built cars for the price. Accord is awesome in large sedan, much better than any german overpriced crap. For commuting and for girls Jazz/Fit is arguably the best on the market.

Lol you guys can talk as much shit as you'd like, but I love my 2012 Civic Si. This is coming from a guy who's past cars have been a Miata, and G35 coupe. This Si is by far my most cherished car.
Granted I have put tons of money into it to make it what it is today, but still. Honda hasn't completely lost it's soul. You just have to look harder.

Pretty much. K24 is great engine for modding. 327whp with a bolt on supercharger. Shocks, struts, sway bars ect.
It isn't the fastest car on the road but I still love building it. I beat a new mustang GT on a 40 roll :^)

You could buy an 8th gen si for like 10-11k, then 5k will get a kraft works supercharger and some coils. probably need another grand for exhaust though. still, you're looking at a 16k car that people have run 11's in

I think it's Honda of Japan being a bunch of spiteful kikes in revenge for WW2 (and not wanting to give up inventory space to sell more SUVs and Accords). I've heard a few times Honda of America execs beg the parent company to bring in more Type Rs only to get denied. They were lucky enough to even import the DC2R to America even which became a runaway hit. People were paying $3-5k over MSRP on cars that were still pretty expensive for a Acura ($23-26k new back in the late 1990s) with long waiting lists. And this was before Gran Turismo/F&F

That really is a shame. It would have been nice, family-ish car with a little bit of naughty hidden. Depending on the year, 240 hp from the factory is enough to have some fun in. You could get that even higher with mods.
