I'm 26 and pay $450/yr to insure my wrangler, $500/yr for my motorcycle and $1,150/yr for my mustang gt. Full coverage on everything.
I put premium in the motorcycle and mustang, so that hurts a little more on gas.

I don't have to put 93 in the mustang but I do... The bike has to have it.

Nah, just a hunch. Most of the wealthy countries I've visited have generally had pretty high prices on everything.

Bought a car 6 months ago and did 6500 miles in that time.
Literally everything (Car, tax, insurance, government testing, parts, petrol, etc.) has cost me a total of €3100 and by 12 months assuming it only needs petrol, it will be under €4000 for cost of ownership.

I'm very happy with that.
>>
>>14730459
That's actually cheap in terms of other European countries, but not for long - the government is planning to rise fuel taxes

407.3 USD as of today for a year of full coverage insurance, 2012 Nissan March with manuel transmission.

Parts are cheap because, well, we kinda make em. OEM parts/replacements, that is, if you want aftermarket/performance parts you gotta pay up.
Most garages/workshops are cheap labor-wise, but not unfairly so.

My insurance is about $800 a year, with medical, liability, and comprehensive.

Parts are certainly plentiful and about as cheap as they can be for a truck. Mechanical parts are cheap, but suspension components/wheels and tires have the typical truck/SUV markup on them.

Fuel is about $2 a gallon.

Denmark.
$540 year insurance. Assuming you're over 25. Has had a car for atleast 3 years and driven it damage free (as in, no insurance claims).
Ownership tax every 6-months, amount varies wildly depending on mileage (used to be weight). Can be as little as $25 (that's 31,6 km/l diesel) or as high as $3000 (4,7 km/l Ferrari w/e).
Then there's the gasoline. About $5 a gallon.

Then there's the extra tax on car sales. It varies from 40% to 170% on top of the 'original price'. You guys have absolutely nothing to bitch about.

Welcome to Denmark, land of taxes.

We have to do the technical inspection every year (in most of EU countries they have to do it once in two years) and we have to pay the road tax every year. The amount is calculated by car's weight (and engine size?). I don't remember how much it costed and I feel too lazy to find that out now.
In some of other EU countries there's this tax included in fuel price but here you have to pay the specific amount every year no matter if you drive 500, 5000 or 50000km/year. A part from taxed funds from this ''road tax'' goes into roads (?). And why do we still have this ridiculous system? Because most of Latvians still have this soviet mentality to obey and pay what you have to pay. It's possible that there will change tho. The gov will give the answer next September (seems like there's slow, mentally challenged people working at our gov).
So yeah, not the cheapest EU country.
