Can anyone tell me what this shaft is called? I have a pre 95' ford explorer and this particular piece is broken at what I think is a U-joint, just in front of the black rubber piece....any help or experience would be great

OP here. I am pretty sure it is the shaft that connects the front wheels to the rest of the engine for 4x4 capabilities.
