Hey /o/, philosophical question. I was looking at mid '90s V8 cars around $5K to replace my Miats, but then I found a guy selling a 2007 5-speed Mustang for $5K. It's in good shape and has the "pony package" which is sport suspension plus appearance shit.

...Only problem is it's a V6. The idea of driving a V6 version of a V8 car, especially one with a graphics package, is kinda gross to me. On the other hand it's maybe $2K less than I'd expect it to sell for, plus it's ten years newer than the cars I'd been looking at (C4 Vette, Firebird, etc.)

What say /o/?

if you can wrench them, go for the older cars.

if not, the V6 is boring, but it'll be a better all rounder

Don't do it. You will instanly regret buying it if you wanted the v8.
>>
>>14725264
The SOHC 4.0L actually responds well to bolt ons and there's the Explorer Express supercharger kit for them too. The pony package is the GT suspensIon on the V6 and the grille and graphics.
>>
>>14725264
Dont. You should be able to find an 05 v8 for alittle more than 5k and it'll be much nice
>>

My area has a huge active Craigslist and there is literally one '05+ V8 Mustang listed below $10K without a salvage title, and it's an $8500 automatic.
>>
>>14725264
The V6 in those years is garbage. V6 Mustangs only became not-complete-shit-tier in 2011, and even then, why not just buy the damn V8?
>>
>>14725264
Nope.
>>
>>14725264

All pony package are v6. V6 mustangs can be had for $2-3k. Get a Gt.
>>
>>14725962
Try autotrader. Craigslist sucks

/o/: Where 1991 Miatas are totally worth $4500 and 2007 V6 Mustangs are $2K.

Dude, the cheapest V8 Mustangs in my area+100 miles are in the $9000 range on Autotrader.

If you dont floor it constantly you'll be fine.

supercharge the v6.
>>

C4 vette
>>
>>14726030

You really won't. Not enough to make the embarrassment of driving a V6 Mustang worth it anyway. You're looking at a 2MPG real life difference.
>>
>>14726099
No one gives a shit about what car you drive outside of the handful of autists on /o/
>>
>>14725264
I owned one, it wasn't near as bad as people make it out to be. Just don't pretend it's something it's not, most people won't know the difference anyhow. Stay out of any v8 cars or you will have a hard time going back, I sure couldn't.

Da V8 go
>VROOOOOOOOM
Da V6 go
>hrmmmmmmmm

You'll know the diff

I had a 2012 V6 and it was great. I got a really good deal on it or I wouldn't have gotten it originally. Some people liked to rag on it for not being a GT, but that delicious 32MPG on the interstate going 80mph was worth it. I upgraded to a 2014 GT recently but I will probably miss ole' red.
>>
>>14725264
Let me put this into a different perspective
you could have a dick
or
have a bigger dick
>>
OP here. Thanks for the input, I guess. So if I had exactly five grand to spend, you'd think a 1992 Corvette or a 1998 F-body would be better than the 2007 hairdresser Mustang?
>>
>>14727857
If the F-body is a LS1, go for that. Otherwise the Vette is the fastest, but the Mustang will be cheaper to run and insure.
>>
>>14727864

I'm a little curious, I always hear people say stuff like that but my insurance agent basically said an old Corvette would have the same rate as any other shitbox.
>>
>>14727909
Liability or full coverage?
>>
My first car was a 2005 V6 Mustang with the pony package, and I had plenty of fun with it. Only modification I did was JBA exhaust, and it sounded pretty good imo. It's not a car you'll win any races with, but it's fast enough to have fun with on your own.

And yes, you will get shit for it being a V6.
>>
>>14725264
you'll get shit for having a v6, however i really did love my 07. I just wanted the v8, and ended up buying a 15 GT last year.

I had one of those

pretty much everything that needs to be said about this car has been said
>it's ok for what it is
>don't pretend like it's something it isn't
>only people who will care are autists on /o/

If you crave power though you'll eventually cave in and get a GT. Don't be a retard and dump money into power mods for the V6 though.
>>
>>14725264
>V6
NOPE
coming from 6 years of i6 ownership i can tell you now dont do it get the v8
>>
Is a V6 Mustang from that period actual-slow, like a '90s Saturn sedan, or is just slow-for-a-cool-car-slow like a Miata?
>>
>>14730162
It was the quickest car under $20k back in its day.

Why are you me.
>>
You won't be able to sell it for as much as you think, nobody really wants a v6.

Plus people are always going to ask you if its a v8 and look slightly disappointed when you tell them its a v6

You will be disappointed in yourself.
>>
>>14730248
It's the traditional ballad of the /o/tist. OP will be singing it himself soon enough.
