What /o/ thinks about the volvo C30 T5?
>>
>>14724692
>3,200 lbs
>>
>>14724692
Great. Looks best in Arctic White, on a set of five-spoke Pegasus'es (Pegasi?) wheels.
Downsides
>FWD
>slightly heavy
>not as powerful as an S60R
Upsides:
>high power potential on stock internals and manual gearbox
>good crash ratings
>quite big for a three door hatch
>awesome styling
>>
>>14724720
Got one with an auto, how bad did I fucked up? (manuals are rare as fuck over here, single digits rare)
>>
>>14724738
Early 00's Volvo autotragics are very, very problem-prone. Dad had both an S60R and a T5 V70 autotragic, both trannies died (he's got a left knee replacement, no clutch for him). Make sure maintenance is up to par. Replacing them wasn't hard (except for some electronics bullshit), but still, keep your maintenance up. As for power, Volvo detuned T5 engines up to about 260ftlbs when used with the autotragic (forst and second gear only), so hopping them up can show some problems. Manuals are godtier.
>>
>>14724773
Mine is an 08, never noticed the detune for first and second gear since the car always pull itself nicely
Quite happy with it so far since my last car was a Smart
My only problem with it is that is chugging gas like a drunk sailor, everywhere I look it says it gets mid 20s mpgs, but all I get is like 14
>>
>>14724692

I have one. Grab the oem roof bars if you ever plan on moving anything big, load space is good for a few shopping bags, but no more. Whether you fucked up or not depends on how much you paid. The Focus ST with the same engine is a better car, but more common, less stylish and probably less refined.

i'm getting one

I like the exterior, but man the interior is.. bad.
>>
>>14724967
Its really much better in person than on pictures
>>
>>14724967

I wouldn't say bad. It's certainly nothing special. The R-Design has some additional leather and aluminum around the steering wheel, handbrake and gearstick.

I just feel that the other models, S/V 60,80 was way better imo.

Where does the passenger airbag come out from?
>>
>>14725040

That's way too busy in comparison.

well, we have different taste. C30 on the pic i posted, the passengers side of the dash, is weird looking, like it dosnt fit with the rest of the car.
>>
>>14725041
according to the manual, it breaks though the dash in the area in between the center and passenger air vents
>>
Don't m8. It's trash.

Heavy enough that 250hp is still slow
Poor ride quality
Huge doors that make it very difficult to get in and out of in a tight spot
Horrific under steer, even when driven moderately
Unnecessarily invasive traction control that CAN NOT be disabled
Large cargo area, but the hath opening is much smaller than the interior volume, so you won't be fitting anything big
Poor gas mileage
Reliability isn't anything to write home about
Auto trans is horribly slow and shifts at the worst times
Manual is meh

If you want a hot hatch go with the focus st or a gti
>>
>>14724692
It looks disgusting.
>>
>>14725352
>Unnecessarily invasive traction control that CAN NOT be disabled

The fuck are you on about? I have a '07 2.0D and you can absolutely disable both the TC and the ESP.
>>
>>14724692
Good car to take to your boyfriends house to suck him off.
>>
>>14725409
The ameribuger 2.5 T5 can't be.

I've read forumn posts that doing 30 in reverse will shut if off temporarily but I never tried it.
>>
>>14724692

R version is nice.

As usual would love to have a polestar version.

True

>Unnecessarily invasive traction control that CAN NOT be disabled

Not true.
>>
>>14724967
I love that. it's so simple and un cluttered
>>
>>14725732
That is the polestar concept
The murican Polestar edition is just a C30 T5 with polestar badges and a ECU tune that makes the car do 250 hp instead of the stock 230
Oh, its also not AWD

As a Volvo guy, I was about to ask about. Seems like best reasonable modern volvo.

>tfw 244
>>
>>14726870
Oh the ride is also somehow worse than the R design T5s since they use the stock C30 T5 suspension tuning instead of the more sporty R Design one
Murican polestar is just a huge cash grab
>>
>>14725715

American here. I own a 2009 c30 t5 and the TC is pretty easy to turn off. Stop bullshitting everyone
>>
>>14724810
stay out of the boost senpai
>>
>>14730078
When is the boost? I'm city driving it and most I do is 3k rpm
>>
>>14730103
maybe its just the city driving... im in the burbs and im getting around 25
>>
>>14730109
Yeah, I looked it up and it seams boost is around 4 to 5k rpm, nowhere near what I usually do
Guess city + auto tranny = shit millage for this car
>>
>>14725352
>Heavy enough that 250hp is still slow
Its got 227 and yeah its a tick slower than a GTI or Focus ST or Mazdaspeed3 but the torque is almost instanly available so you get a lot of usable power without having to redline the motor
>Poor ride quality
Not really.. get good tires?
>Horrific under steer, even when driven moderately
really with the buzzwords? this is not a track car.
>Unnecessarily invasive traction control that CAN NOT be disabled
yes you can,,, starting to think youve just made all this up
>Large cargo area, but the hath opening is much smaller than the interior volume, so you won't be fitting anything big
large? I dont think so.. you sure youve driven/been in a c30?
>Poor gas mileage
getting 25 combined on my 6 speed in the burbs
>Reliability isn't anything to write home about
ive only owned the car for 6 months so i wouldnt know but nothings come up other than routine stuffs
>Auto trans is horribly slow and shifts at the worst times
I don't know ive got a manual
>Manual is meh
only thing i dont like about the manual is that the cup holder is way too close to the gear shift

>If you want a hot hatch go with the focus st or a gti
You could i guess, performance isn't all that different but the c30 styling is next level compared to these

for another 2k you can get a turbo back exhaust, intake and ecu tune to around 300hp http://www.sharkperformance.us/brands/engine.php?Model=C30%20P1%202007-

you also get that godly I5 crackle in your exhaust note
>>
>>14726896

The Volvo Polestar tune isn't worth it in America or anywhere else. Overpriced, you're better off spending the money tuning it yourself and pocketing the difference.

>>14730279

He's trolling. Either that or he had one in his Gran Turismo garage and believes that makes him an authority. Lost credibility at 'Large cargo area', it's not quite BMW 1 series small, but it's very far from large.

fucking hell, don't be so easy to manipulate.

I bet I could show you this fucking ugly car and you'd want one.
>>
>>14724692
I've looked at them. I like them for a commuting standpoint. Enough power to be kinda fun. Should be really safe, which is essential since on my commute I'm surrounded by soccer mom's who think they're piloting Japanese Zeros.

Styling is subjective. I love the interiors, very minimalist feel. I also dig the glass hatch and rear bucket seats.
>>
>>14724692
>boring manufacturer builds boring hatchback
who the fuck cares
>>
>C30

basically an overpriced Ford (Euro) Focus with less interior space and thirstier engines.
>>

I want one now
