Why do auto plebs do this? Do they think manual cars have only 2 pedals? Seriously, so rude.
>>

Pay them no mind and next time pull off even slower lel

Rude desu. People don't honk here at all.

>>
>>14722346
I already take a pretty long time to pull off. I start doing everything as soon as the light goes yellow but I'm very careful because I don't want to stall.

>>14722360
They're plebs because they have the nerve to honk at me, a delightful student driver, when all they have to do in order to get their car moving is letting off a pedal.

>>14722361
I know! I just want to take it easy.

I hate stop signs so much. My instructor keeps taking me to narrow residential streets with a bazillion stop and give way signs, some are on a hill.

I taught myself how to drove a manual at 15 and have a 5 speed truck and 6 speed car. You're paying somebody to teach you at 20 and you still suck ass. I think you need to rethink trying to insult anyone else you failure.
>>
>>14722411
did it occur that manual drivers could also be honking at you?
>>
>>14722447
Well I'm sorry that you have a tiny penis, but I think that you need to come to terms with that.
>>
>>14722360
Because otherwise rude behavior is only rude when you are able to drive manual?

You should only honk if the person obviously did not realize its green in that situation.

>t. another butthurt manchild
>>
>>14722455
No, because manual drivers must remember the time they learned how to drive and therefore they must be patient around student drivers.

>>14722476
But I'm not mad at all, and I can drive pretty well actually. Look, I know that it's frustrating when your penis is so small, but it doesn't mean you have to be rude to people.
>>
if you don't know how to drive a manual you don't deserve to drive anything.

good work on going thru that pressure on the road, keep it up you will nail it in no time.

tip, practise clutch control with one foot only in a industrial area or empty car park.
>>
>>14722447
>>14722483

You sound as if driving manual is a great achievement.
Do you understand that learning to drive requires mostly practice and if you are someone that needs 10h to learn to drive manual its not a greater achievement if you invest these hours age 15 or 20. That's your choice.
Are you a failure compared to me because you seem to have less experience with driving different cars and no motorcycle? Try thinking about if its worth to talk down to someone when what you achieved yourself is minuscule.

>>
my mom drove a jeep at the age of 12 through the sahara desert. im 24 and haven't driven anyhting other than a camry, neon, and echo. feels awful.
>>
This looks like a good thread to ask this in. I've been driving stick for almost a year now, I think I'm alright, drive in traffic well enough, no stalls, etc. But why is it that whenever I upshift or even put the car in neutral at speed (for braking), there's always a lurch? As in the car shifts forward on every upshift.

Am I letting off the gas too quickly, or pushing in the clutch too fast, or is it just because I'm driving a 26-year old shitbox?
>>
>>14722880
Sounds like you're letting off the clutch too fast.

>upshift or even put the car in neutral at speed (for braking)
Don't do that. Leave it in gear so you can engine brake.

>>14722561
>illiterate, but not really.
>>
>>14722880
>pitches forward on upshift, as in the nose drops / you lean forward slightly / decel / forward weight

Not enough gas/revs for the speed you're going, you're upshifting and then engine braking for a moment. If this happens while dropping into neutral you might be letting off the gas slightly too soon and engine braking for a moment.

why cant you just break to a halt and hold the break in 1st? i havent driven manuel since i was 10 but now that im 25 have taken an interest in cars again i want to know why this cant be the case, assuming you guys stop and engage the clutch
>>
>>14723153
You can clutch to keep it in gear while stopped if you want but that's not OP's problem. The problem is learning the engagement point and properly trading clutch for gas to accelerate from a stop; OP apparently can't figure it out so he takes a long time to launch and rides the clutch forever instead of doing it properly.

this is exactly why I hate manual cars ... >>
>>14722344
This is why you should be watching the lights for the other direction. Wait until they turn orange, push the clutch in, shift to first. That way you're all good to go when your light goes green about 2 seconds later.

this guy is right: you're letting off the clutch too fast ... upshiftting it's allways the same: letting off the clutch softly and giving gas slowly at the same time
>>
>>14723122

my brake pedal doesn't articulate like that, I have to use my foot.
>>
>>14723304
I have never driven an automatic in my life (I'm 33) and I can accelerate at maximum power from any stop w/o rolling back - even on the steepest hill - and I don't use the hand brake or some special technique. So can my mom and she has no interest in cars beyond getting to places. Face it, you just live in a culture where manual transmissions never got to be the norm and now everyone believes they're inconvenient or only for enthusiasts. Also, your driving ed is fucking useless (assuming you're an American), which is more than likely the actual problem with your ineptitude, because it's really not that hard.

If you hit the gas to up the RPMs so they match or are close it won't happen.
>>
>>14722447
the age you learn is completely arbitrary. there's no difference in a 15 year old or a 50 year old learning how to use a clutch. you just need time in the seat.

assfaggot.
>>
>>14723369
I'm not american, here on sudacaland 90% of cars are manual because they are cheaper and autos are top-tier luxury items, so manual it's the norm. Also in my city public transport it's quite decent because small city, so I own a car only because luxury and freedom of movement, actually I didn't have the need or interest on learning to drive until two years ago when I got the oportunity to got a car on cash.
As everybody here drives manuals, everybody drive like assholes, and being a novice driver it's exhausting and frustrating, if I choosed to drive it's because I want a comfortable trouble-free ride, not to be sorrounded by Schumacher-wanna-be assholes, and manual driving seriously severes reaction time ... you know, cars are expensive items, so the last thing I want it's to crash or being crashed while figuring out revs, clutch, gear and stuff ... a friend of mine had an old automatic mitsubishi galant, and first time i drove it I just fell in love with auto trans, so after getting my license I got an old Toyota Cressida and had fun with trouble-free driving (and gravel road auto-trans drifting) until car just broke because age. Now I'm driving a manual Suzuki Alto while fixing the Cressida, and while it's quite preppy and fun car, it's not as fun as the other because manual box.
>>
>>14723479
>manual driving seriously severes reaction time
You can drive whatever you prefer but don't try to justify your choice with bullshit arguments.
>>
>>14722344
You'll eventually learn how to feel the bite point of your clutch and you won't even think about it anymore. Just keep driving and you'll get it.

I got my first manual less than a month ago and I'm already going from stop to start in less than 2 seconds or so.
>>

>>
>>14722670
> Just push the clutch in and break when you need to stop. Better to wear out your brake pads than wear out your transmission.

downshifting is for things other than stopping you know
>>
Try this OP, find an empty road that has a good incline, rev your car to around 3000( what I have to do when starting on an incline) and just engage the clutch, and then disengage over and over again, but keep the RPM constant with the gas pedal. This got me way better at driving a manual when I first started
>>

You really just need to get in a car and learn by doing. It's not hard per say, it's just going to feel really unnatural at first because you have to think about each movement.

It'll become second nature fairly quickly and you'll get noticably better the more you drive. You never really stop improving desu

The proper way to start moving at the stoplight with an manual car is
>Press in clutch

For me it was because I lived in a city with a solid transit system and moved to another city in a place in walking distance to school, work, and groceries. Cars are expensive with gas, insurance, and no job so if you don't need one then there's no point in putting in the cash. I got my license at 16 but didn't actually learn how to drive until 22, and even then it was an autotragic.

Jesus Christ, DUDE, do you also criticize people for using the stairs instead of the elevator? Also, your straw man examples are pretty much fiction. People who know what they're doing don't make those mistakes - at least not in a way or amount that matters. I live in a country where almost everyone drives stick and those problems don't exist in the real world.

And btw., I'm aware that there's always a 50% (or higher) chance that you don't actually believe what you're typing, but if that's the case then I'm just sad for you - lying on an anonymous image board to make other people mad gotta be one of the most pathetic things one could do, yet it wasn't below you. I wouldn't even be mad that I 'fell' for it - actually, all it does is reminding me of my better life.
>>
Because manuals have slower reaction time compared to automatics

For city driving automatics are perfect
>>
>>14733453
Repeating a false statement doesn't make it true. We're not talking learners here - experienced manual drivers will stop as fast as automatics and accelerate even faster. And I'm talking normal people here, not car enthusiasts. If you've stalled a car in traffic or from emergency braking after even 6 moths of practice, you just suck at driving - it's as plain as that. Manual transmission don't inherently slow your reaction time, that's a provable fact. Driving stick is about as hard as riding a bicycle w/o training wheels and not something to brag about.

Don't worry OP, today was my third day dailying a manual miata, and I only stalled once. You'll get better! If old women in europe can heeel-toe through the alps, so can you. Don't worry bro

I give extra space & time to people who are obviously learning how to drive manual. If you aren't a learner, then don't let the green light go to waste. They're too short as is.

What model Prius do you drive? I've never driven one with a less than 20 second 0-60 so there's no way you're dominating anybody with one of those, and electric motors only have a torque advantage from a dead stop

Does it help if I play a lot of video games and never had trouble driving in the first place?

There's a specific car I want and it only came in manual, and I don't want to convert the transmission.

>auto plebs

No, just people who can drive.

If you're wearing L plates though, people should be a little more patient.
