what are some good affordable cars with no computers/ECUs in them?
>affordable
about eighty billion m8
>good
none, carbs are pre-ww2 tech, get with the times swaggot, you're supposed to be a digital native

Nice bait

Anything with mechanical fuel injection. If you're looking for a shtf vehicle diesel is good because some old diesels will run on other fuels more readily. Old diesel vws, Mercedes, military diesel gm trucks and blazers
Nothing remotely good.

which cars have that?

Alot

fuck you guys are faggots
any old car with point to point ignition and a carburetter

Gas doesn't store as well long term, construction machinery/tractors usually run on diesel so it'd be tougher to find and store two types of fuels after shtf.
does this qualify?
>>14718176
that's not even it you git, you can rig a diesel to run on fucking animal tallow, that's why you want it.
>>14718176
that was not related to OP's post.
he sad a car without computers, not a car that runs on farts
A purely mechanical car isn't just desired for SHTF, there are alot of other benefits as well. Police have already developed several working prototypes of directed EMP weapons to be used in high speed chases, and future cars will have such high level digitization that your movements can entirely be tracked and monitored and most likely stopped on a dime by someone who has control of the car's network. There have already been stories of cars being hacked and causing crashes, and manufacturers have deliberately been silent about it because most cars lack any sort of security.

>EMP
On unhardened shitboxes maybe. Hardening against EMP is literally as easy as wrapping the electronics in aluminium foil and grounding the foil against the frame of the car. Electromagnetic waves cannot pass through metal, so literally all you need is a halfway acceptable metal shell around them, no matter the kind.

Yeah, it seemed like EMPs were the direction things were going to go for the past two decades since cars became so reliant on electronics, but the difficulty in it's implementation makes me think they're just going to start backdooring cars to be turned off by police instead for less hassle. In addition to speed limiters, GPS, and user input data: it would deter vehicle based crime substantially. Stopping cars before impact, downloading and analyzing speed and direction data from all local cars while investigating an accident or other traffic violation, you lose your freedom in exchange for "security" like with phones and computers.
>the trick is to make self driving cars that feel like you're in control

there are ~20+ computers in a modern car. you gonna tear it apart and wrap each one in tinfoil? kek!

fuck, i saw pic related while driving a new Camaro - pissed me off!!

In America you can find tons of classic muscle cars floating around but they're normally outrageously expensive. However, for a decently reliable all mechanical car, they're probably your only real option. Try to find an unrestored one not owned by a boomer made between 1972 to 1978. After 1972, muscle cars began to get heavier and their emission and safety regulations dampened their performance, making them generally undesirable among collectors and hence cheaper. After 1978, crude early electronic sensor technology began to be implemented. Keep in mind that, outside of terrible cars like the Chevette, Vega, or Pinto for example, American engineering was still pretty rock solid, but that doesn't make it immune to rust, neglect, and scarcity.
You can also find various trucks, volkswagons, and landboats for fairly cheap too if they're unrestored. Just consider how difficult it will be to find parts, how bad rust and frame damage is, and how bad your gas mileage and emissions are if you have to worry about that.

thanks

Well, I would expect them to be clustered close together to some degree at least, behind the dash, close to the engine. No sense in having a cable tree with 20 different heads.
what was the first car to have an ECU?
