Why is the Miata such an overpriced meme car in the Midwest?
people think its a sports car for some reason
They're peaking at $5,000 here in Pennsylvania too. You're picking the wrong season to buy a cheap Miata though.
But, if you have $2,000, you can buy mine ;)

pretty good deal if you ask me

Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.
Too expensive for such little modifications. He's expecting 6k just because it's not rotted and has slightly lower mileage than the rest on the local market. The car is worth 4500

>>14717861
That is not cheap. Miatas have doubled, almost tripled in cost due to stupid ass stance faggets. I have never paid more than $1200 for any Miata I've bought. Yet try to find that now, people want over a Grand for parts cars.
People wanting $4k+ for a slightly not beat to shit one is ridiculous. Ruining the market for all. It used to be a cheap alternative, now it's gone the way of the 240.
Miatas arent worth it anymore
they were good when they were all maybe 2500 tops

I'm also having the most difficult time selling it.
I've gotten texts and calls from about 20 different people in 24 hours and they all have some weird shit to offer or somehow expected a factory mint Miata for $2000.
Let me know if you're interested in buying it. I just washed it yesterday.

Good Miatas (under 100k, No dents) go for about 5k in the south due to a huge abundance of them
My guess would be that not as many people own Miatas in the midwest due to the weather

Keep a jug of motor oil, some sun tan lotion and a few gallons of water in the trunk and you can get there in a day.
>>14717342
Why do people in America think that owning an old Wankel motor is a good idea?
First of all, it's the most hairdressers car ever made and 2nd you have to take the whole engine apart after every 30000 miles.
Gay car, good idea for engine with crippling fails.

Mine's taking its sweet time selling too, because faggots don't want to drive 2 hours to come look at it.
This is a case of CL buyers forgetting what is and isn't my problem. It's not my problem that you can't afford it, or are unwilling to drive out here to see it, etc.
Also, fuck assholes who try to lower the price over text before they've even been near the car. How can you even begin to make an offer if you haven't evaluated the car? I make it a point to wait until AFTER a test drive and me inspecting other peoples' cars before I throw them any offers. Simple psychology/sociology - If I take an hour of your time and appear genuinely interested and really look over the car, and I've got cash in my hand, you're far more likely to move on your price than if I were to be a fag and ask "wats lowest price 4 teh car" over text as my opening interaction.
Faggots can't even into negotiation these days - go watch some fucking Wheeler Dealers. Mike may be doing scripted buys/sells most of the time, but his tactics work (obviously he does legit negotiations off camera before).
>>14718684
>>14718751
I'm pretty sure this is bait, but...
Wankel engines are in RX-7's. The Miata has an inline 4 cylinder.
You've confused the Miata with an RX-7 convertible.

>don't want to drive 2 hours to come look at it.
>Also, fuck assholes who try to lower the price over text before they've even been near the car. How can you even begin to make an offer if you haven't evaluated the car?
They're trying to see if you'd lower it into their price range before they drive two hours to see the car, nimrod. You complain about them wasting your time, but how do you think they'd feel to drive two hours one way to look at a car and get "NO LOWBALLERS I KNOW WHAT I GOT" when they try to negotiate?
That ain't to excuse faggots who try to open with just 25% of asking, but there's no harm in asking if the seller is going to go down to where you want to negotiate to save both of you time.

>>14719557
Do you honestly think it's a good strategy to tell them you'll take less than your asking price before they even show up?
All that does is weaken your position for when they actually arrive, look at the car, etc. Now instead of negotiating from your asking price, you're negotiating from the price you got tricked into telling the prospective buyer you'd consider.
I never bitch about how far away a car/seller is because I have basically all the time in the world for this sort of thing. It's dipshit poorfags who are trying to see cars between jizzmopping shifts at the local nudiebooth with the problem. Too bad.
Having your time wasted as the buyer is just part of the game. People will stand firm on their prices. You will drive 2 hours to see cars only to discover that they're worse than advertised.
As the buyer, you must constantly be asking yourself "who has the problem?" And as the buyer, you must realize that 99% of the time it's YOUR problem and not the seller's.
>>14720513
Then have fun selling your car, faggot. You seem to have been having a good time of it so far.
>NA prices are going up because they're the new "cheap" ricemobile and mint ones are becoming rarer

>>14720605
I've always been saying this but the NB is better than the NA objectively and always has been
It resembles a smaller FD and I'm all for that. And as much as I love popups, the NAs deer in headlights looks are probably 50% of he reason people call it gay. Fixed lights certainly turn down the homo a lot.
just how? how in the hell has this been only driven for 12,000 in the past 25 years.

Philly Anon here.
If you are patient you can find ones for 2500 that arent too bad. Heck a few weeks back a dealership was selling a 94 for 2200. If I didnt have an emotional attachment to my 1990 (and bills to pay) I woulda done a trade and buy just to upgrade to a 1.8 liter.
Bought mine for 1300 with a hard top (ad was up for only a few hours, haggled down from 1800, was high mile). Again be patient and contact IMMEDIATELY. If they have a phone number- use that, if you need spam them with emails from multiple accounts until you get a response.
As for getting the price down- NEVER talk price until you are face to face. Test drive with 60% of the asking price cash in your pocket and leave the rest in your car/with a friend. If you like it pull out the wad and say "I've got $XXXX right here, will you take it?" Its really hard to say no to a stack of money right in front of you. If you get pushback name some of the faults, and SLOWLY increase your number hoping to pay 75-80% of asking price.

>>14721699
You what? Adding a turbo adds at least 50hp and that's a pessimistic estimate.
I've seen turboed NAs that generated 220hp at the wheels. For such a lightweight car that's a shitload.
>>14720410
I know, they show up here a lot
>mfw a few more years and finding one for less than $5000 in a decent condition will be impossible
The only thing keeping NAs relatively cheap is the fact that there are so many of them.
>>14721863
To fully take advantage of it, you have to have a higher octane to go with the forced induction
At least that's what I think he's saying
>>14720624

oh wow less than 10c more than standard petrol... catch a bus poorfag or find something relevant to complain about
also, a turbo v8 still has to run premium. any turbo car has to run premium. learn what detonation is and the actual purpose of high octane fuel then come back

Some joker on the Dallas CL is trying to sell a turbo'd 1.6 which might as well not have a turbo because of how fuckhuge the turbo is.
I went to test drive it just for shits and chuckles and the thing doesn't fully spool till like 4200 RPM, which is completely worthless in an MX-5.
a 3000RPM spool-up would be ideal.
still deciding if its a smart thing to keep my stock NA 1.8 for another year and sell it for 7 grand or sell it now in the summer season for 6 grand and not risk having the hype go down along with the price.
>>14717504
Not him but lehigh valley resident, with the way they nuke us with salt spray I assume it is only a summer car?
>>14725030
>1.8
There is a slight chance it might lose value. NBs are getting cheaper so people might soon start buying them instead of NA. Most people interested in NA will be the ones looking for the purest experience and thus the non-detuned 1.6 will be more desirable.
Though that still might be a few years from now.
Thoughts?
