Problem isnt the engine, after all aristo 2jz's a 2 grand all day. Problem is the transmission. The W58 out of mkiv n/a cant hold shit for power, and v160's (strongest, supra TT oem) are like 6 grand right now due to them being indestructible and getting swapped in anything. You used to be able find R154's (weaker, still 600hp capable) out of mk3 supras and some other 1jz cars for cheap, but even those are now 1500-2000 for sketchy used ones. The only affordable option now is the GM ar5 (gm r154 counterpart) out of the solstice and a little bit of diy work, but its no longer a bolt on affair. Unless you want the auto, in which case you can get those dirt cheap and have fun blowing up $150 transmission's all day.
