what are the pros of an iron wheeled Lamborghini tractor?

would you buy one?
>>
Pro: It's a Lamborghini

Con: Can't go on roads without breaking your spine.
>>
Con: if the ground is at all squishy you'll sink in in no time at all. There's a reason many tractors used to run on, oh, I dunno, TRACKS.
>>
>>14716035
That's the entire point of it. Instead of floating on mud it's meant to sink and dig into the mud until it finds more solid soil to claw into. Also means you'll ruin less of your field with tire tracks.
>>
>>14716044
>the fewer is the wheel surface the less you'll sink

Well the pro is obviously the fact it ruins less of the field.
The con is the fact the field has to be connected to your estate since you clearly can't take it on a public road.

He's not wrong, it depends on the structure of the soil it's meant to operate on you dumb piece of shit. If you have a hard layer deeper down those sort of wheels will ruin way less of the top layer than any balloon wheels,

>>
>>14716184
In world war 2, crews of the tiger tank, we're taught the weight displacement coefficient of their tracks, if they were in doubt of the ground they had to cross, they were told to have one man climb on the back of another, and hop on one foot, if you sank, the tank would sink as well.

Tracks are great for getting over everything, until you come across soft ground and the tracks aren't wide enough to displace the weight without the vehicle sinking, once the main body of the tank gets below soil level, you are truly fucked.

In certain types of soil - YES, dumbfuck
Generally they usually use NARROW rubber wheels for that sort of application.

>sup newfag
>>
>>14716201
You know how farmers always follow the same tracks instead of going criss cross and turning their fields into mudding holes for rednecks?

Yeah.
>>
>>14716203

When tracked vehicles traverse soft ground, the pressure under the track rises and falls as the bogie wheels of the track run over the track itself, as in effect a tracked vehicle is a continuous track-laying device. The average of the peaks of ground pressure, the MMP, is determined by factors such as vehicle weight, track width, track pitch, and the number and size of bogie wheels, with the lower the MMP the better. Due to experiences with soft ground in Russia and the adaptation of large diameter overlapping bogie wheel suspension for axle loading and suspension travel concerns, German tanks such as the Mk V Panther and Mk VI Tiger had low MMP’s of 150 and 230 respectively. Even the Tiger II, weighing over 65 tonnes, had a MMP of only 184. Therefore this would appear to give these tanks huge advantages in soft going over tanks such as the M4 Sherman at 282 and the Cromwell IV at 352. This was born out in practical experience where, especially in snowy or muddy conditions, Allied tankers repeatedly found that Panthers and Tigers could drive where their own tanks would risk bogging and immobilization.

We're talking about a purpose built tractor not destroying ground here.

Not the effectiveness of tracked vehicles in different environments.

Not all crops require you to drive a tractor over them once they are established. Around me they crop dust instead, and the plane that's used sounds awesome.
Big fat wheeled monstrosities fly across these fields to spray early in the season, most of them only have three wheels.
One job of a tractor is to pull heavy shit, like a plow through the ground. I can't see these skinny metal tires spinning out under load because of the narrow contact patch.

Ic ic, stable looks very tidy too. DeLaval or Lely robots? No problems with humidity in the winters seeing there's no inner ceiling btw? I know some people here regretted not opting for that, but climate is a bit colder here I guess.

Going to do some work and fix some stuff in the garage now, thread might be gone when back, was very nice to meet you anon!

I've got somewhat similiar living conditions, but on a smaller scale (40 dairy cows (oldie style milking) 130 other cattle, 500 pigs and some sheep, 135 hectares fields, 100 hectares forest and 25 hectares "meadows", renting 3 houses, couple excavators and other machinery for assorted jobs)

there are long plastic bags along the sides of the barns, that inflate to shield from wind and weather, and yes, there is a ceiling, its raised 10 cm and made of plastic, so it doesn't look like there is any on the picture.

we have lely robots, 5 A2's 15 year old, they are shite, break all the time, and lacks the function to postpone washing between pinicillin cows. it makes the day an hour longer because you have to wait for a 10 minute wash between every pinicillin cow.

Those are only applied because the fields get flooded and while the first few inches of the ground are mud, the lower ground layers are still dry and you need to sink through the mud to get to the hard layers.

>>14715991
I suspect it's for rice fields of other semi-aquatic crops

wide treads will stop you sinking into mud, but would damage enormous amounts of your crops

usually compaction of soil would be an issue, but I suspect the spikes on the wheels tear the ground up as they go so this doesn't happen

your wheels would go straight down till they hit some hard soil, and you'd claw across that layer as you moved

all things considered though this kind of wheel would probably do better>>14716263

you'd have to change the wheels to move it out of the water though or you'd destroy your access roads
>>
>>14721835

Wow, this trainwreck of a thread is still going.
I know they're cultivating, faggot. I dunno what they're doing cultivating with spiky wheels, which was the point the guy I replied to tried to make. Yes, they tear and dig a little, but to be honest regular rubber wheels would've been just as fine and would also have crushed more of the dried together lumps of soil on the surface. It's a minimal difference if you ask me, with comfort as the main price to pay. But maybe that was the only tractor they had available at the time or something.

>all of these retards spouting off about agricultural shit they have zero knowledge of

I can see that none of you fucktards realize that for different types of ag applications, different wheels, tires, tracks, etc are used.

There is no one answer, it all depends on the application.

We have had No problems with them, other than false alarm and a single broken fuel pump, they have all 3 been just fine, but they are going on 10k hours now so its time to get some new

The claas arion 460 however, only had 10 hours on the clock when an Oil Line broke deep inside the Engine, and they ended up just replacing the whole thing.
>>
>>14718634
Actually, in Finland, you'd be pulling mad pussy with that thing during friday night cruises, like seriously.
Especially if you want some grade A teen slit, you'll be pretty much guaranteed to get laid with that thing.

Tractors are a serious business over there. BMW's, mercs and audis ain't got shit on them, it's all about the Volvos and tractors.

just depends on the tractors. some u can get split, replace the clutch, and back together in a day and a half, well 8 hour day and a half. this one the reverse synchronizer went out on it, so u had to tear into the transmission. that takes a little longer

>>14757454
