Why not, friendo. More reliable than most newer cars.
>>
>>14714527
But an Audi 80/90 with the 10v i5 manual. Or coupe Quattro with the n/a 20v i5 manual. Or 200 20v turbo Quattro if you can find one. Or a urs4. Or a urs6. You can kill these cars. The only problems that ever arise are electrical and most often it's as simple as a coolant sensor or window switch getting dirty. They are pretty easy to work on but parts aren't too cheap. Any of the cars listed above will do you well.
>>
>>14714832
Just don't buy anything with a v6 or fwd or automatic. They will fail you. Also meant to say you can't kill these cars. They are so damn reliable.

that makes me panic

imagine that you're however many league under the sea

sirens are ringing
water is flooding in
fire down the hall
the air fills with smoke
men are screaming

you and three dudes are trying your best to read gauges and turn these giant wheels as steam burns your hands and grease gets in your eyes

PURE HELL

>>

I had a green 2000 a4 avant v6. Nice car, tho numb steering and not as fast as you'd think it would be. Maintaining it just got to be too expensive. Do you have 5000 to spend if something really bad happens to it?
>>
>>14714527
look for Audi 90 with a 2.2 or 2.3 it must be 20v or don't bother. If you're getting a Quattro then get prepared for shitty gas milage but if it wasn't involved in a crash it should be mostly rust free. They did a really good job galvanizing these cars.

I'd go for the 2.3 20v Quattro 7A engine, it makes an incredibile sound.
>>
A4 audi with 1.9TD is cool, just get a better turbo and tune it. quattro for rally mode

Nice meme. My famly had a 1991 Audi 80 B3 and it was literally unkillable. It had about 800k km on the clock and we never had any problems with it in the 5 years we've owned it. Can you elaborate on what experience you've had? Because we seem to have had different stories with each others' cars.

Well, better use all the time you have doing absolutely fucking nothing on learning these wheels until you can operate them with your eyes closed while scalding hot oil is spraying in your face.

Incidentially, the above sentence also applies to German cars.

That must be why there are so many 50+ year old American cars still kicking all over the world. Don't see any Audis past about 20 years old, except at wreckers.
>>

I don't know why everyone thinks Audi's or German cars are so spectacularly different than anything else.

They really aren't. If you want a sedan that's dirt cheap to run get a Toyota.

i bought a 25 year old benz a few months ago, even if it breaks down today i payed about 50 cents per kilometer without fuel, and i havent had any problems with it in the last 3500 or so kilometers. i feel like no less than a God when driving it. it is probably one of the best purchases i ever made in my whole life.

>buying a Dirtcedes when you could have had a more reliable, faster, better looking, better handling Jag for cheaper and gotten laid
lol. And it's a diesel, too. Hope you like Futurama cause you're driving a rod bender, glad it's been cheap for you so far though.
>>
>>14720161
>rod bender
lol, you wish. i want something that can take 150-160 kmh for a long time without me getting deaf of uncomfy. didnt bend a rod for the last 313000 kilometers, sure as hell wont bend one now.

>buying a jap when german cars in good condition are cheap like never before

you need quite a few parts every now and then, eh?

Stay angry bro, I was talking about interior trim pieces to keep it looking FRESH
When's the last time you got a real compliment on your car? Has anyone ever ogled it? Just curious.

The W124 is a reliable car, sure... but any car is reliable if you do the upkeep. Can you say for certain that you know everything that could keep the car from starting or running properly? Probably not. That's a lot easier on a classic Jag, and it makes you wonder how they keep them so refined when there is all that simplicity about. But keep believing your uncle who "owned an XJS that caught on fire"
>>
Bought an 01 A4. I love the thing but being a dumbass and getting ripped off, soured me. 8k for 89k miles. I had to throw 3k in repairs in the last 4 years.

6 hours ago when i drove to a friend and some guy next to me in front of the traffic light started talking to me.

pretty much all the time desu. believe it or not.
>Just curious.
yeah. right. just curious ;)

>but any car is reliable if you do the upkeep.
naw.
>Can you say for certain that you know everything that could keep the car from starting or running properly?
i know a thing or two about cars, but with the W124 Diesels its not that complicated. if theres water in the cooling system, oil in the engine, and diesel in the tank.... it will run.
>Probably not.
you dont know how simple these engines are built, do you? why the fuck am i even replying to you, im starting to believe you have no fucking idea what youre talking about.

>But keep believing [...]

To play contrarian, I imagine this is mostly due to who owns these vehicles. There are many more older VWs than Audi's because of the cost of buying the car.

Old American cars were maintained by people who wanted to keep the cars running as long as possible. Same goes for VW.

Audi vehicles are owned by the type of person who is leading for 3 years then moving on to the next model. They don't care about keeping the car running because they are just going to have a different one in 2 years time anyway.

Full disclosure, I owned a B6 A4 for 8 months. Biggest money pit ever because it became quickly obvious that the previous owners just wanted the name.

Cracked head, blown turbo, failed oil pump and cam chain tensioner were amongst the myriad of problems I had to fix after I bought it and ultimately why I sold it.
