Grab a funnel or chop the top off of a milk bottle. Stick it into the radiator neck and pour a bit of coolant in.
Start the engine, turn the heat on and let it warm up. As any air bubbles in the system escape, coolant will be sucked into the radiator. Add more coolant as this happens.
Once your car is at operating temperature and no more air bubbles are escaping, take the funnel out, put the cap back on and turn the car off.
Above all, be careful not to burn yourself.

Yeah one of my cars has an overflow, its designed to stop pressure building up by acting as a reserve without just pissing coolant out.
You can have a full rad but an empty overflow as it sits higher up.
By filling the overflow you end up pissing coolant out quicker than necessary as when the car gets hot the cooling sytsem gets more pressurized even though theres the perfect amount of coolant for your cars average temperature.
The reserve should deplete itself back into the actual circulation when the car cools down to normal running temp.

that's not how it works at all
just fucking fill it up to where it tells you to on the overflow, the manufacturer put it there for a good reason.
also it won't build more pressure than an old-style no-overflow setup since the overall volume of the cooling system is bigger.
your cooling system needs pressure to circulate properly, if you have an empty expansion tank then you have too little coolant for the same space and it'll be underpressured.

When I depress the clutch sometimes it makes this crunch noise and feels as if something is loose? A little hard to explain but usually only happens when going from first to second.

I've had to drop out the sub-frame to replace the steering rack. I've also gotta replace the front radius rod bushes, and front brake hoses. All simple stuff.
The one that threw me for a loop was the requirement for a GVM. I'm confused as to why I need one but I think it's because the guy checking the car thought it's a commercial vehicle.
I'll have to ask him after the holidays, but in the mean time I've been doing the some googling and as far as cost goes, it's all the same. Due to the GVM being less than 3.5 or whatever tonnes. (it's 600kg if you're interested.)

Rack rod ends were worn out. I could have tightened up the cups (according to a mechanic) but when I got down there I noticed the rack bushing was worn and the rack was loose.
