Just found this BMW 2002 for sale on my local craigslist and I want /o/'s opinion on it. pic related

price: $4500
miles: unknown but def over 100k
title: clean
transmission: 5 speed manual
In running condition

"This 1972 BMW 2002 needs a new home. Have not found the time to restore this classic.
Car starts and runs fine. Black leather interior with recaro bucket seats are in fair condition: slight tears at the seams (can provide pics). The only major alarming feature for a car of this nature is the rusting that has begun on the bottom rocker panels as seen in the pics (still have the chrome panel stored away). Great for restoring, parting, or driving.

Below are some specs and notable components I have changed within the years.
5 speed transmission: previous owner installed
Momo Steering Wheel: previous owner installed
Euro Turning Signal Light: previous owner installed
Recaro Bucket Seats: previous owner installed
Ansa Center Resonator: 1 1/2 yrs ago
Ansa Muffler: 1 yr ago
Alternator: 2 yrs ago
Weber 32/36 Carburetor: 1 yr ago
Distributor with Electronic Igniter from Ireland Engineering: 3 1/2 yrs ago
Master Cylinder: 1/2 yr ago
14" Wheel 320i Rims: previous owner installed
Bilstein front strut inserts: 3 1/2 yrs ago
Bilstein rear shocks: 3 1/2 yrs ago"

As for mileage, I just emailed him and he just said

"The odometer actually has stopped working. However, the odometer for this car only goes up to 99,999 miles anyways."

Clean models are starting to go for double that, but if I were you Id pull the carpet up and see how bad the rust really is.

Most likely itll need a full strip and rebuild to get it back to pristine, which will be all of another 4500 if you're doing it on the cheap.

Mileage doesn't matter much, a maintained M10 can go basically forever. 2002 are great little classic cars, they're light and handle pretty well, look good and are easy as hell to work on and pretty cheap to own. Slow, but fun in twisties.

>car is mint
>I know what I got

Those seats look comfy as hell, but the interiors would need ALOT of cleaning.

Don't do it unless you know restoration. Don't do it for that price.
There are better ones out there for equal money. With provable history.
>>
>>14709439
well i live in New England and I doubt i can find one thats better for the same price. anything with less rust than this one goes for 8k but i understand why i shouldnt buy this i guess
>>
>>14709429
yeah the fucked paint and interior wouldn't be so bad but that hole seems too big

I'd still wager you'll be able to find a better one for the same money. Takes some searching and time, of course.
>>
>>14709455
Since you said it, find one in better condition for the same price.
>>
>>14709455
I mean if you say so... I'll try to

OP here, that reply wasnt me btw
>>
>>14709468
Oh, so you don't actually know what you're talking about and just talking out of your ass? Imagine that.
>>
>>14709473
Depends on how much bodywork and saddling you can do yourself. If you can do it ALL, then even 4.5k is fine. If you can't do any, costs will rise pretty quick. That's setting aside the non-original parts in the car, which lowers its overall value, even if restored to mint.
>>
>>14709479
Just maybe you should try reading. But hey, it's /o/, so shitpost away.
>>
>>14709483
Maybe you should backup what you're saying rather than talking out of your ass retard.
>there are better ones out there for equal money
>doesn't show a single one
Yeah you can fuck right off.
>>
>>14709489
>there are better ones out there for equal money

Again, try reading. That is not what I said. That's specifically what I avoided to say.
>>
>>14709429

Fucked. Don't bother.

You don't even know what the fuck you're saying.

>Takes some searching and time, of course.

How do you even type when you're this blind?
>>
>>14709503
You're a goddamn idiot. First you say there are better ones out there now you say you didn't say it when I clearly quoted your post. Just admit you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about and fuck off to another thread.
>saddling
Yeah, you're pretty retarded.
>>
>>14709422
'twas merely a meme.

If you plan on restoring it and like the car, I guess it's a fair price.

If you plan to use it as a "cool" DD I don't think it's worth paying 3 times the amount of a used E36 in better condition. Maybe if you could talk him into 3K or less...
>>
>>14709516
ill see if I could talk him down to 3k or even lower
>>
do it
