Apparently it only affects the Ford 2.3L with a manual. They designed the ECU to let the rpms drop slowly when releasing the throttle (clutch, gear does not matter) for emissions testing. Takes about 4 seconds for my truck to drop from 3k rpm to idle when I let off. When downshifting the engine only slows the truck down maybe 2mph until the ECU takes over

It can wear on the fork and throwout bearing, technically. Not a big issue desu
sort of, my autotragic at city speeds unlocks the torque converter so engine braking isnt that much but its still there. Not as much as direct drive.

Yes. It saves brake wear. Which is useful, because my brake discs are heavily worn, and the pads are nearly worn out as well. I'm replacing both together in a month or two, but getting the last bits of wear out of them first.
I drive 70 miles per day to work and back, 95% of all my braking is done via engine brake.
I only really brake on street driving.
Even in bumper to bumper traffic I engine brake. Only use my brakes when I'm not on level ground.

You have to place the brake pad into your throttle body. If the car accepts your offering it will suck the brake pad into the intake and add it to it's collective torques.

Yeah there's just one brake, between the engine and the trans, it looks like a big round brake pad sandwiched between two rotors. You'll need to drop the tranny to access it

Yes, as long as you're going DOWN a gear. You can engine brake in a car without an "M" mode. I have an automatic 4 speed RAV4, I can choose D-3-2-L, it will just keep the vehicle from shifting past the highest gear of that range. If I choose 3, it won't shift up to 4th gear. If I choose 2, it won't shift past 2nd gear. If I choose L (first), it will stay in 1st gear.
You should really only be using this if you're traversing really steep hills, especially if you're towing and don't want to overheat your brakes. 90% of the time you'll have no need for it, and it does put more strain on your transmission so just use your brakes when you can.
