Opinions on the e90 335i? Likes, dislikes, recommended mods, races, etc?
>>
800 whp with a $500 chiptune brah
>>
From memory they used to like shitting their fuel pumps at a fairly prodigious rate, dunno if beemer ever fixed it
>>
>>14696879
Lol.

Running a JB4 with e85. Not 800 whp but a fun amount.
>>
>>14696891
Before I bought the car they had replaced the fuel sensor. I had read an issue with the HPFP, so I told them to replace it before I purchased, which they did. I thought I read somewhere that bimmer released a fix
>>
>>14696899
>which they did
Post the work order/invoice.
>>
The fuel system requires more maintenance than most cars, which is expected since it's a direct injection.
Turbos like to go kaboom a little bit more often than other turbocharged cars.
BMW's cooling system is always dildos and should immediately be overhauled with an aftermarket radiator and water pump.
If you're even somewhat considering an automatic BMW kill yourself.
otherwise go for it m8, just make sure that you're doing your own maintenance and not paying a mechanic because it'll get expensive fast.
>>
>>14696852
Doesn't have a dipstick.
>>
>>14697309
>If you're even somewhat considering an automatic BMW kill yourself.
What's wrong with the autotragic? I live in a crowded city.
>>
>>14697358
So buy a Camry if driving is that difficult
>>
>>14697372
Nah you're a moron.

No amount of your shitposting will convince me why BMW manuals don't suck (compared to Honda, Mazda, even Audi), why the ZF automatic in the 335i that spends most of its time locked up isn't good, or why I should get an auto when I park centimeters away from the car in front of me at gradients above 25%
>>
>>14697388
No, its a BMW- he'll need the Camry to actually get to work to pay for the spares
>>
>>14697358
>I live in a crowded city.
Why?
>>
>>14697517
I'm an executive in a corporate office. I spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic because my city has terrible road infrastructure.
>>
>>14696852
Would rather a e82 135i even though its only ~200 lighter.

Same problems smaller car tho.
>>
>>14698417
Thats a bitch excuse, many of us are manual drivers and have no problems driving them.

And BMW's autos suck most give out around 100k anyways.

Ive never seen a ZF auto transmission make it beyond 140k

Sounds like a problem on your end buddy

Enjoy your automatic piece of trash, why even buy a BMW? Oh, right, for the image. Consumers like you ruined BMW.
>>
>>14698453
So you're buying a BMW just for the transmission?

>>14698440
>Ive never seen a ZF auto transmission make it beyond 140k
Finally, a good argument.
>>
>>14696852
- The E90 chassis is a boat compared to the E46.
- The traction control is very invasive, and kills the throttle at the first hint of slippage. It's very annoying in winter driving... it will cut the throttle when you need to accelerate to merge into traffic!
- The automatic transmission likes to start in 2nd gear and then downshift to 1st, which is annoying. Sport mode is better but it's not practical because it kills the gas mileage.
- It eats tires. The E90's suspension has things like dynamic toe adjustment that causes uneven tire wear when you drive aggressively.
- The Twin Turbo is not the most reliable engine.
>>
>>14698440
My jag's 4HP24 has 265 on it and going strong
>>
>>14698666
>- The traction control is very invasive, and kills the throttle at the first hint of slippage. It's very annoying in winter driving... it will cut the throttle when you need to accelerate to merge into traffic!

I would like to add that E39s and most BMW w/o LSD's and DSC have this problem, and worn rear suspension bushings exacerbate this problem.
>>
>>14698696
How the fuck did you get a jag to 265k miles?
>>
>>14697358
Why do people say this? Are you really that a bad of a driver? I've been driving around SF all my life in manual cars and never thought it was anymore difficult than an auto. If you aren't brain dead and don't ride through clutch, where is the difficulty. And if you are only gonna drive it through the city why do you even want a 335? Just get a Honda fit or Fiesta
>>
>>14696879
More like 500 on race gas. JB4 is life.
>>
>>14698594
>buy enthusiast driver's car
>with transmission that reduces power and adds another layer of separation between the driver and the road while reducing the amount of control the driver has over the vehicle
It's just straight up retarded m8. Buy a Lexus or merc if you just want status.
>>
>>14699508
You realize the latest high powered BMWs don't even come with the option of manual transmission anymore right?

Too many fucktards like you blowing the engine with retarded revs.
>>
>>14699508
You're actually retarded.
>>
>>14699530
I don't follow BMW so you could be right but can you point me to an M car that's auto only? I can't imagine they'd ever do that and if they did, they really have lost it.
>>
>>14699562
I don't know about M, but the inline 6 diesels are all automatic, as are all X models.

I guess you can still get inline 6 petrols with a manual gearbox, so M too, but I'm not a moron so I would never buy an M anyway.
>>
>>14699572
550i is also auto only.
>>
>>14699530
Nigger what? The M2, M3, M4, M5, and M6 all come with the option between a manual or a dual clutch. You sure as fuck aren't going to see a torque converter anywhere near an M car.
What are these "high performance" BMWs you speak of?
>>
>>14699572
So what the post should have said instead of performance cars is commuter sedans, SUVs for middle class white moms, and luxury landbarges.
>>
>>14699605
I think he meant the i8? Which is a fags car anyway.
>>
>>14697309
>If you're even somewhat considering an automatic BMW kill yourself.
you're fucking kidding me right?
335 is not your 90's bmw, I think 90% of them are automatics and rightfully so, they are WAY faster than you can ever be stirring your shit down there.
>>
>>14697358
The BMW ones have a history of grenading if you don't treat them right.
>>
>>14699675

A4 better. S4 much better.
>>
>>14699724
they don't look half as good as 335 though also interior
>>
>>14697309
This is all true. I've owned a n54 and n55. Replaced turbos and fuel injectors on the n54 no problems with the n55
>>
>Friend buys 2011 335i with 15k miles on it
>Within his first year of ownership and adding 13k miles on it he has had to:
>Get towed twice
>Replace his fuel pump once, under warranty
>Has gone into limp mode 2-3 times
>Has these long engine starts/takes a long time to crank in the morning when it's colder
>Has had to replace his fuel sensors or something along those lines that would've costed him $1200 but only paid $300 deductible
>His run flats mysteriously had low PSI one day
>All the lights on his dash started flashing while driving

If you ignore all that, I think it's one of the best sports sedans you can buy today. I didn't believe in the German car meme until I saw it for myself.

i just hit 125k on my zf and im at around 400chp. been to the drag strip with the thing quite a bit so its seen probably close to 100 hard awd launches. only problem ive ever had with the trans is sometimes if i give it a bit too much gas within a minute or two of starting it up on a below 0 degree day, 4th will slip a bit. other than that it rides like a dream.

and how long would a clutch last you tracking a mid 12 second car like that? youll probably spend more in clutches and other wear items every 140k than you would literally buying a brand new zf.

>>14700505
Given a smart driver, probably once and 4th wouldn't be slipping like it is in yours.

A new zf even a 150k miles out would cost as much as the car, a clutch and related items?

$500 at worst

I own a 2011 335i OP ask me anything, Ive only had to replace a serpentine belt and fix an oil leak. 50k miles on it. I use it a lot for roadtrips and it gets better gas mileage than my speed6.
