Poor fag GT cars.
GT car as defined as:
>a car with the ability to cross a continent at speed and in comfort yet provide driving thrills when demanded
>be able to transport at least two in comfort with their luggage and have room to spare — probably in the form of a two plus two (2+2) seating arrangement
>The engines should be able to cope with cruising comfortably at the upper limits on all continental roads without drawbacks or loss of useable power.
>The design, both inside and out, should be geared toward complete control by the driver.
>Its chassis and suspension provide suitable handling and roadholding on all routes during travels.

I know there is an element of style associated with grand touring, but I figure that is the first thing to go when going cheap.
I see the Mustang (mostly just this generation, the previous wallowed too much) as an example of a new one. Has enough power, can handle well enough, and comfy enough for a long trip, and putting your foot down is still some fun.

Anyone else have other examples?
>Price cap for poorfag GT cars should be $40k
Used or new, but used shouldn't be something you have to buy beaten half to death that couldn't actually handle a trip

Any older model SL that's in decent condition. With a price cap of 40K, you can find everything from a basic SL 320 all the way up to an AMG model

>heated, cooled, and massage seats
>hard top convertible
>plenty of space
>comfy as fuck for long distances cruising
>as reliable of a V12 as you will ever find

BMW 6 series

It's a V12 mercedes.
Budget in at least $5k a year for maintenance, not including tires. That's if there are no major problems already, or anything that could pop up.

I wish they'd make a new one, but it will probably be a bloated turd, like the impreza/legacy.

I need that slimslim profile

While I'll admit that the SL65AMG borders on God tier touring, I've found the following options to be decent touring cars, as set by OP's definition. I've driven each of the following nearly 1000 miles / week for a few months.

E38 750iL
E61 535xit
B5.5 Passat W8
4th gen Taurus Sho (2011 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost)

Long commutes suck, btw...

The thing is stupid fast. I had the pleasure of driving one. It's just insane and really damn comfy.
