Hey guys so I've been doing some research online and I kind of came up with a plan for the cosmetic work I'm gonna do on my car, no word on engine work yet but I am going to completely change the exhaust from headers to tips for a bigger meaner hi Flow model
Here's my build plan so far looking to get some opinions/advice

Pic related is ground zero

Step one is gonna be to get the body fixed up and then paint the entire thing matte black. Then I'm gonna install these rear louvers
>>
>>14687224
2.8 V6, 3.1 V6, 5.0 V8, or 5.7 V8?

If it's a V6, I can give you tips that don't involve an expensive engine swap

Then I'm gonna use these airshocks and new coil springs to lift the back end a few inches to fit offset tires
>>

step two should be suicide

It's a 5.0 v8 chevy 305 I plan to swap to a 350 but that's gonna be later down the line. Don't have the room to build or swap an engine right now.

Next I'm gonna put in this seat cover setup but black and blue instead of black and grey. The interior is already blue so black and blue will match
>>
Would be easier to just buy a Fubu track suit, a fake gold chain, and move into a trailer park than going through all that trouble with the car

Step 3 will be too put this mother fucker on the hood
>>
>>14687243
The 5.0 is trash worse than the rare 2.5L 4 banger models.
You can't make power from the 305
>>
>>14687224
>matte black

That shit is so overdone it'll just make you look like poverty.

Your call tho.
>>
>>14687266
Well funny that you mention it have been thinkin about glossy black too but I'm not sure, I mean the third gen body style seams to just be perfect for matte colors. I associate gloss with the 2nd gen.

>>14687256
Yea I'm aware of that dude, but I can't do shit about it for now. I plan on going to a 350 bored and stroked to 383 eventually but I want to at least start working on the visuals for now
>>
>>14687242
Care to explain your opinions? I'm open to suggestions man what would u do different in this car?

>>14687247
Actually, ghetto mexican here
>>
>>14687294
>383 stroker
ugh so overdone. Why not do a destroker so you can rev that fucker to the moon? 283 crank in the 350 block should do it
>>
>>14687303

>care to explain your opinions?

Yes, I was going to suggest

>mexican

never mind.

>what would u do different in this car?
I would wrap it in a matte blue similar to the wrap used on this VW Super Beetle concept.
>>
>>14687318
I'll have to look into that thanks, seriously Just picked the stroker because all the old muscle car and carb guys I know rave about how it's the best to put into a f-fbody

>>14687337
Whatever man
>>
>>14687362
Looks dope but not my taste peronsally, I want it black and blue
>>
>>14687382
I grew up around these cars. 383 strokers are a dime a dozen. Yes a 383 will make more power, but it also wont rev very high. A 383 will often redline at 5000 rpm, 6000 rpm if you're lucky. A 302 though (cuz a 350 block with a 283 crank will give you a 302) can rev to 8 grand if you build it right. There is a replacement for displacement and its called revs. Ever wonder wy formula 1 cars rev to 18,000 rpm? Because the rule restrict the displacement of their engines. If you can't make the engine bigger, you make it rev higher. Honda has followed this philosophy for decades.

And pic related. from 1967 to 1969, Chevy actually did make a 302. The 302 used a 327 block (which is identical to a 350 block) with a 283 crank to make a 302. The reason was because the only car it was used in, the Camaro Z28, was a homologation special for Trans Am racing, which had an engine size cap of 305 cubic inches.

>>14687389
That can be arranged. contact shops that do vinyl wrapping and work the details out with them.

Yout sound like you know what you're talking about with v8s, I'll have to do some research and weigh my options

As far as the paint goes I posted this in a few other places and texted it to my buddies and it's pretty much unanimous decision against me that I should go hi gloss black with the bird on the hood since the car does have chrome trim around it so it would really pop as a classic.

I wanted matte black but I don't want to regret it later on all because I was going through a mad max phase
>>
>>14687448
>listening to your shitty friends
>not doing what you want
>implying you'll actually change the color
pick 3
>>
>>14687448
don't do a matte black paintjob, it'll look shit no matter what, it's better as is
louvers are sick
skip the chicken on the bonnet

otherwise, pretty noice
>>
>>14687459
The argument is do I want to go for a nice restored looking pontiac firebird, or a mean looking mad max ride. I can't decide yet. Apparently matte black and making it look mean would really fuck me out of some resale value down the line though so there's that to consider
>>
>>14687448
if not wrapping it, I'd leave the paint alone. just have it polished and it should make a huge difference. That blue is a nice color.

There isn't much that hasn't been done to the Chevy small block V8, but de-stroking has started to become more popular.

Here's a de-stroked LS V8 Hot Rod built.

Matte black is overdone but I still think it looks good. Grow up, ignore trends and do what works for you.

Personally I think it looks great as is.

Tha paint has to be done dude one way or another, it faded through really bad and some parts are down to the primer and metal and it's like 7 different shades of blue and gray all over
>>
>>14687537
you should make kitt from knight rider
>>
>>14687548
My issue is how would matte black look with the bird decal on the hood
>>
it looks fine as is. Instead of wasting money on paint and stupid bird stickers put the money into the engine. With the amount it's going to cost to fix the dents, paint, and I'm assuming rust, you could get a decent engine.
>>
>>14687551
have it resprayed in the original color then. otherwise the car needs to be completely stripped of everything, even the engine, for a proper color-change paint job.
>>
>>14687512
You're a faggot. Destroking is stupid on a street car, he's never gonna get into the powerband with anything resembling stock gearing especially if he has an autotragic. Plus he's in Commiefornia, no way can you have a smoggable 302 Chevy that makes decent power.
>>
>>14687563
Thought about it, decided to go with the louvers and lifted back instead
>>
>>
>>14687616
Looks like you could already fit some fat as fuck tires back there without lifting it any.
>>
>>14687603
>Plus he's in Commiefornia, no way can you have a smoggable 302 Chevy that makes decent power.
bore a 4.8L LS 60 over.

and of course I'm a faggot. Are you new or something?
>>
>>14687655
I don't mean you suck cocks, I mean you're a fucking bundle of sticks. And you can't put any iron block LS in a post-1975 car in Commiefornia since they only came in "light trucks".
>>
I used to be in love with these cars. I had plenty of them until recently.

I built a 7k red 334 stroker and nothing could touch it. 334 is a 383 but with a 305 block.

>stroking a 305
>>
>>14687789
literally this. The strok is NOT the reason the 305 is trash. Wanna know how to fix a 305? Bore the ever-loving shit out of the cylinder bores. But it's cheaper to just swap in a 350 which already has a much larger bore. stroking a 305 is pointless at everything except making the engine worse.
>>
>>14687823
You can get like 300hp out of a 305 for cheap, they're not complete garbage just really mediocre and yeah, the best way to "fix" one is to replace the block with a 350 block.
>>
>>14687230
>>14687238
trailer park white trash style

classy
>>
>>14687939
300 is like the max you can extract from a 305. The problem of that tiny bore is that you can't fit in big valves. Bigger valves let in more air. More air means a bigger bang. Bigger bang means more power.
>>
>>14687982
True dat. Like I said it's not total garbage, just mediocre. The older Chevy 307 is a way better engine, pretty much a 283 with a 327 crank but most bench racers think it's shit just because there was no factory "performance" version.
>>
>>14688068
>Chevy 307
The 307 was an Oldsmobile V8. Completely unrelated.
>>
>>14688074
>there can only be one engine of a given displacement
Jesus dude just when I was starting to think maybe you're not such a shitcunt. Yes there was an Olds 307 but there was also a 307 SBC from the late 60s to the early 70s, look it up.
>>
>>14688148
I stand corrected. Did not know that. Thanks anon.
>>
>>14687551
Oh hey weren't you the anon who found this for 3,500 from some old lady a few months back?
>>
>>14687565
I think you could still do it -instead of having a filled in decal, just for for a white outline version.

2500, and yes because her husband who was the original owner (also a former marine) lost his mind, beat the shit out of her and went to the prison. And of course she regretted calling the cops so she paid his legal fees even though she was the victim of his crime, and so they sold the bird for 2500 at 8600 original miles confirmed by title, carfax, and my dad's mechani, to pay lawyers. Car was made in california and never left, no rust or corrosion anywhere it's super nice.

Goddam anon making me change my mind lol

Guy's I'm super wasted right now off pbr and jack (of course I am i drive a t top third gen) and I'd just like to say I appreciate all the help and advice over the years. Yall the best

I know this is a troll thread, but on the off chance that it isn't you need to sell the car to someone who will actually take care of it.

The way you type I'd be surprised if you had anything beyond a room temperature IQ.

If you want to do this shit go buy a Civic instead. Nobody cares if you ruin a Civic.
