What's the biggest project you've tackled? Also most recent project?
78 Fairmont
>New carb
>Tried removing hydraulic lifters but local parts place didn't have the right lifter so waiting to pick up a 302
1971 El Camino
>Trans swap
>Steering coloum change
>Fuel filter + Fuel lines
Most recent project
08 Cobalt LS
>Fender and door swap few months ago
>Drum swap
>Oil
>Tire rotation
>Throttle body and MAF sensor cleaned
>Head unit reset
What about you /o/? We all start somewher, my projects aren't insane so what've you got?
Also I've been getting unusually shitty service from my auto parts stores any one else?

Changed timing belt, thermostat and water pump on my BMW E30 last weekend.

>pic related, the parts that came out of the car
>>
>>14686464
How much does it cost if youre the one doing it? Not looking forward to doing that shit.
>>
>>14686545
cost me 130$ total from ECS tuning. I purchased the level 2 timing belt kit, which had the water pump, timing belt, thermostat, new radiator plug, timing belt tensioner and camshaft seal.

not going to lie, this took me an entire day, since it was my first time doing it.

Suprised this thread isn't doing better, no one wrenches? Just talks about paper stats what the hell /o/?

Have a 99 Corvette I daily'd for 3 years, its been sitting in my drive way for the past 6 months. Now that I have some money (new job) I've been full force in restoring it.

>New Paint job
Gonna be Black Sapphire Metallic, a BMW color
>Long Tube Headers
>Ported heads
>Cam
>Sound Deadened interior
>New Stereo
>New Headlamp housings + Bi-Xenon HIDs
>New seats

Also a new Dual zone A/C unit. Did some research and found that the unit out of a 2002 Buick regal should plug right in an control the same modules. As far as I know, no one else has found this or attempted it.

Aiming for 420hp for a fun weekend car.

420Hp should be super easy to push out of it as long as its V8, Always love thr feeling of going straighg into a restoration project, good luck man and post updates on the work

Thanks, this is the look I'm going for. I'm even gonna install the rear brake cooling ducts by cutting into the rockers. Also gonna be getting a set of c6 z06 brakes (3 piston front, 2 piston rear), apparently they bolt right in and can be had for around 1.3-1.5k used.
>>
>>14688163
I dont know much about vettes but I assume they're like mustangs where parts are semi interchangeable like shelbys and gts. Awesome project anon hope everything goes without a hitch or breaking more things like I tend to do.
>>
This summer I'm going to strip a truck down to essientally an engine on a frame.

Probanly makes roughly 200 hp at the wheels and with no weight should be pretty fun. It's not 4x4 so I could put some bigger tires on the back and get that go kart / sand rail feel.
>>
>>14688176
>they're like mustangs where parts are semi interchangeable like shelbys and gts
Yeah, you're pretty much spot on. I don't know about the c7 but the c5 and c6 are practically cut from the same mould. Some enthusiasts go as far as taking the auto 6 (only a 4 speed in the c5) and swapping it over. I've already done some swapping on mine, it has a full c6 z06 suspension on it.
>>
>>14686398
those wheels seem tiny
>>
>>14688190
Ayy you're going to have zero traction at your rear wheels. I don't know if that's what your going for, but good luck driving it hard.
>>
>>14688190
If not HP you'll have some spinny tires from torque, weigh down the back for traction lol.
>>14688194
Good deal man,I could see the appeal of swapping in an auto if it's a cruiser or something. I sometimes feel like leaving my Fairmont auto and sticking the 302 in it with a auto shifter type deal because I'm constantly deciding between going all out and making it a street legal track car or making it a restored badass sunday driver. Planning on swapping out all suspension for 5.0 suspension.
>>
>>14688206
I'm pretty sure they're 15inch rims with used low profile racing tires (Got them from a guy who had them on his track car). Cant decide between 5 lug gt or 4 lug standard, although I'd love to have disc brakes all around.
>>
>>14688212
Yeah I have gave that some thought. Haven't come up with a good solution yet. Probably have to see how it drives and rides first.

Looks nice and clean right? Something that's been taken good care of, right? Wait till you hear that cam tick.

Need a new cam and check those hollow bolts in the head so that the new cam won't be chewed right through.
>>
>>14688894
Is that an inline 6?
>>
>>14688900
Yes, BMW's 3 litre M30 engine. M30B30 to be specific. Americans never got this one in the E32 730 I think, only the 3 litre V8 and the 3.5 litre M30B35 in the 735. This is the 735 engine basically but slightly shorter stroke, i think.
>>
>>14688918
Shouldnt be too hard to replace then right? Unless everything mounts together in front of the motor.
>>
>>14688949
Probably not anything a day or two in the garage won't overcome. Just a hell of a job to take that all apart.
There's also a Turbo Chrysler in the garage still patiently waiting for a new radiator and intercooler, one that she may never see.

So you're doing an engine swap because you can't find lifters for the i6? Try rockauto.
>>
>>14691444
The lifter tool was too small and the engine isnt worth actually rebuilding and always had a plan to swap in a 302 anyway, will try RA though.

Technically my dad buys projects all the time. Last one is a '95 Golf he bought at an auction 6 years ago but had to sell it because threats from some asshole. Guy didn't hand the title to the DMV to transfer it, car dissapears for years, got seized somewhere and how he has to go through a fuckload of bureaucracy to get it back.

Not sure what we'll do with it. Personally I want to make it Mad Max-y. Pic related (thing is so old the camera I had back them was crappy as fuck).

I aven't started because I don't have all the parts yet but I'm planning on getting all new Bilstein HD shocks. Also, I just scored a brand new, 0-mile cylinder head for 100€ today, so that's gonna go in at some point. I'll probably end up doing the timing and balance chains/sprockets etc at the same time because it's easier to get the timing cover off when the head is off already, plus no danger of fucking up the HG.

Stripped about 80% of my car to bare metal, one of the last pieces I am doing is the panel between the taillights below the trunklid, I have a patch panel I cut out of another car, just cut it straight yesterday to get ready to weld it in, going to be a tough one since I'm going to butt weld it in and it's a really complex body line so it's going to take hours to fit up. After that just need to do the cowl and a few small areas and the whole car will be 0 bondo, 0 rust, and I'll spray it in high build and paint shortly after that.

My Honda Zoomer (not Ruckus, this has 4 valves and EFI). It's a stretched version that once was a pizza delivery vehicle. It's also completely fucked and more or less a tinker proect just to keep my hands busy.

Both brakes stick.
The engine doesn't start up without ridiculous cranking and if you do manage to get it running, it dies as soon as you stop giving it throttle. Also only gives it three quarters of the speed it should be getting.
The rear axle is bent because someone hit a pothole going all the sanics.

I know how to fix the brakes and the axle but the engine will make me struggle.
