Ok then :(

Pro tip: Have a magnet handy, in a workshop I used to work a nigga got steel shavings right into his stupid eye, a day later he still had some left, and an eye so red my own teared up.
Boss dropped by, saw him, asked what happened, grabbed a HDD magnet used to stick notes, and pulled those eye slime covered metal bits right off.
I was amazed at how simple of a solution, and that it didn't occur to me.
If it's non ferrous metal then though luck tho.

Safety glasses will keep you out of more trouble than you ever thought you could get yourself into.
>>
>>14685810
I learned that after nearly losing an eye to a snapped dremel blade.

By 'nearly', I mean 'two inches lower and it would have hit my eye'. I still have a mark in my forehead where it hit and gouged a chunk out.

Did the same shit when I worked being a mechanic but I'd wear them when underneath the cars.
>>
>>14685810

Honestly, thanks OP. I have gotten some conventional weapons dropped in my eyes working under the car, but I continue to go under there without safety glasses. I guess it never occurred to me.

Keeping your eye open when you're spraying it with a garden hose is hard

Prescription glasses don't protect your eye at all, though there is some false confidence in them

Termi is either trolling 100% of the time, or he never knows what he's talking about. So he's either the most dedicated troll on here, or he's a dumbass.

can confirm but ffs wear ones that seal across the cheek

>400 litre air compressor at 40 psi
>air cleaning like a boss
>suddenly a steam of air defects off my cheek and most intense pain I've ever felt pushes me back
>fall over backward while doubled over in pain and clutching my face
>roll around on the ground cursing for bit as left eye is burning
>pain is gone so I wash my eye out and get a ride to hospital - they don't find shit
>go home and spend the next few hours bathing my eye till a peace of metal falls out
>mother fucker is shaped like an arrow head 1 mm long by .5 mm wide

that was two years ago and I'm slowly going blind
my right eye is short sighted and my left full of scratches and damaged tissues

my left eye is always squinted so blinks half a second before my right
I cant see much in the distance and my vision gets much worse at night
when I'm tired all the muscle around my left eye starts aching

I know a couple of guys who use bench and angle grinders wearing only prescription glasses
they have been doing that for years so I don't know wtf is in their eyes but look close and there are rust spots
the eye is one of the fastest glowing tissues on the body so in an hour and all the stuff stuck on your eye becomes a part of it
doctors try to dig it out with a sharp spoon but they do not get everything
>>
>>14686319
did the same except was doing fuel filter, let it sit and burn until i got the new one in and at that time it was too much to handle so i turned on the hose and stared at the end like my first time seeing titties. it was right under freezing, i'm glad the hose wasnt frozen

Op here, doctor removed what seemed to be a big chunk of solidified oil or grease, was behind my eye, like literally behind my entire eye. They had to use a special metal tool to "open" my eyelid and extract the nuclear fallout that landed in my eye.

WEAR YOUR FUCKING SAFETY GLASSES.
>>
anybody have any recs for safety glasses that don't fog up, dont scratch and are comfortable? the free ones that the tool room gives out scratch within hours and are pretty useless.

Harbor Freight's fit well and kept a cutoff bolthead out of my eye just fine. If they get scratched up just use rubbing compound on them.
