I'm sitting in my miata right now. The carpet, radio, door cards, and speakers are gone. Water gets in through the sides of my racing hardtop and wind gets in through the doors because they now act as a inlet. It's miserable in the cold and wet, but goddamn if it isn't fun.

My old DD was an older Jeep Wrangler TJ. It has a half top with no rear seats and no open storage space in the back, 35" mud tires that wobble and shake, 5 speed manual and averages 11 mpg. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's always breaking down which is why it's now sitting inoperable in my garage.
For the past couple of years my alternative transportation has been a motorcycle. Great for commuting to work in nice weather or going for a leisure cruise, but not practical for anything else.
Now my DD is a 2014 Mustang GT. 6 speed manual, small rear seats, but does surprisingly well on gas. I can get 24 city if I really baby it. It's a small step up in practicality, fuel efficiency and reliability, but is still not really a 'practical' compared to a lot of vehicles out there.
>>
I used to daily drive my car. Wont go into too many details, but here is what I had

80's RWD Turbo Coupe. Absolutely no drivers aid.
I4 engine on solid mounts, with balance shafts removed.
Straight pipe exhaust, side exit.
All other mounts were poly 80A
Coil overs on 32/36 setting
No AC
Manual steering
unsprung 4 puck clutch. why? it was free
low, but not low enough to impact driving.

everything constantly vibrated, and was very loud. windows up, or down made no difference on cabin noise.
hard to hold a conversation.
radio worked, but is drawn out by all the noise
constant gear whine, diff whine, fuel pump whine
the turbo I4 sounded like a fucking tractor. maxium braaaps, and flames

currently down for a new engine, going with an I6 for maximum smoothness.

not a supra

I DD an 84 pontiac firebird and I'm used to it but yea I guess it's pretty impractical. Just bought some Gabriel Hijacker air shocks to lift the back end a little too for stance.

The GS was pretty impractical for a daily but practical enough
Hard coils, solid and spherical end mounts and bushings everywhere, sway bars set to hectic, tires that suck without heat in them, loud as all fuck, shift kit chirped tires every gear change under any throttle

Just buy a thunderbird turbo coupe and swap the engine, it's really that easy.

Wow, how do you handle that animal on the streets? You are a true madman. Nobody would buy a car like that with the intention to DD it, it's just too insane.

Its fucking horrendous but i put some plate flippers and kill switches to make my commute fast, and an in cabin boost controller so i can get like 25mpg when i go to work.

I want a more comfy car to dd but that damn thing is so much fun

my car was a race car, but also a junker

very low, somewhat loud (ran stock exhaust for the street), floor mats and door cards were in to make it a little civil, half cage with door bars, etc

other than my car friends, no one really liked to ride in it, which was honestly fine by me

I know you, ish.

Sad to hear the truck got destroyed :( used to brighten up my day.

Op: aw11 mr2 with roll cage, race seats, stripped interior the exhaust is a little louder than stock but not hugely.

My hometown has 4 Motorsport shops for a tiny population. I see atleast 1-2 racecars a day, lots of production series stuff

Fortunately I have 3 spare sets of wheels for racing. Various tread/compounds. My "daily tires" are a set of Dunlop dierezza z2's

I DD an 87 Chevy C60. Weighs around 8300lbs, gets 5 miles to the gallon, no gauges work, no stereo, no AC, no heat, it's rusted to shit, leaks water, burns oil and has over 450,000 miles on the body, previous owner put in a 502 big block in it, leaks every fluid and the clutch only sometimes works.

I'm not a ricer shit box vaping and scraping bro fag. I autocross this thing and like as little weight as possible. The rear is now lighter and the CG is shifted forward, which makes the car easier to rotate and have more steering pressure under braking giving me more turn in grip in the front tires.

Normal tracks wouldn't give any benefit to this car but conefagging is different and some of the courses our local SCCA region makes up are downright ridiculously tight and require you to almost drift the car through the cones to make it.

Seriously just fuck right off busriders.

I really like it!

Find out what ball joints it uses and maybe you will find a suitable hub from another car that fits. You also could maybe weld up the old hubs holes and then have a machine shop drill a new pattern. Or you can even make spacer/adapters to go from 3xWhatever to 4x100 or something. Lots of options.

Well it's turbocharged and if you're in boost it runs rich which kills fuel economy, and I'm in boost a lot. That's just a side effect of making a little 4 cylinder make more than twice as much power as it did stock.

You could get a longer final ratio with no extra parts by opening the transmission, putting the 4th gear gears on the 3rd gear position, and then putting the 3rd gear gears in the 4th gear position, thus multiplying rather than reducing, so in effect an 5th gear.

You could get good fuel economy if you adjusted the carburetors to run leaner though. Also lowering the tire pressure on the front tires pretty much kills the excessive oversteer, but where is the fun in that?

I daily a R33 GTR, but i don't commute to work or anything, since i work from home.

It's actually pretty fun, apart from racing clutch, bucket seats and no cruise control.

Getting it back from the shop in a week and a half, pretty excited cause i'm gonna take it on a road trip (i'm the anon who started the road trip thread if anyone remembers).
