>8 speed DCT with a torque converter for smoothness and fast shifts
Seriously? What is the point of it? It would propably make shifts slower, so where's the advantage of the DCT?
>>14681872
The ILX got a HUGE update for 2016. The 2.0L and hybrid are gone. 2.4L only now.
The 6 speed manual is gone as well as the archaic 5 speed automatic. All models get Honda's new torque converter DCT.
And the retarded packaging is gone.
And it's even better looking now.
And despite the 201 HP K24 and automatic, it's faster than the closest competitor, the Buick Verano Turbo (250 HP) with the 6 speed manual.
>>14681899
According the Honda, the torque converter is there to solve the jerkiness commonly associated with DCT transmissions. DCTs are generally jerky around town at low speeds. That's where the torque converter comes in. The torque converter itself has no bearing on shift quality. It shifts as fast as a DCT and as smooth as an old 1990's Buick.
>>14681763
suicide
>>14681931
Well yeah that would solve it, but how is it any better than an 8 speed automatic?
>>14681763
tranlation: help me buy a car
>>14681960
because DCT.
A dual clutch transmission, by design has lighting shifts because while you're in one gear, the next gear is already selected and spinning. the transmission disengages one clutch, and activates the other, enabling lightning quick shifts.
Here's an animation to explain it better.

Honda Accord EX-L
>>14681987
Yeah but your engine is connected to your wheels through a viscous coupling, so no matter how fast it shifts, you still get that floatiness in the acceleration you have with automatic transmissions that is due to the torque converter.
In a regular DCT (as well as a manual), you wheels are connected directly to the engine, and that's a major point they both have over automatic.
If you stick a torque converter on a DCT, you basically get an automatic that shifts a bit faster and has more breakable parts.

>>14682100
compared to other companies, they still do
about the only one they fall short of is Toyota/Lexus. Honda's tranny problems were no worse than those experienced by companies like Chrysler, Ford, or GM
*but* it was the one thing they failed at moderately, and so the jealous burgerclaps started beating their war drums and screaming memes about honda trannies
>>14682096
Would you prefer a Buick Verano Turbo?
>>14682100
With normal automatics yes. But DCT's are built like manuals, which Honda has a great track record with. And breaking a torque converter is really damned hard.
>>14682096

It was just general scheduled maintenance. Said to do it in the manual. They did change the oil. Checked my tires, brakes, fluid levels. What car doesn't have scheduled maintenance at 20k? That's completely normal. Didn't cost me anything.

Do yourself a favor and go drive one, and then go drive a last gen one.
That tiny engine absolutely ruins this car, at least it did for me. It's great in the Mazda3, but it's really not fit to be in the heavier Mazda6.
>>14682178
I drive a 2.0 skyactiv in 2013, handling and gas mileage is good, that's about it though, seriously quiet cab but you feel so isolated and it just dulls the experience
>>14682201
And the Regal is still slower than the turbo Verano. They really should've given the Regal GS the AWD 2.8L V6 Turbo the Insignia OPC used instead of that 2.0L Turbo. Totally wrong engine for a performance variant of any epsilon platform car.
