Unlike you I just trusted my gut and bought my Z, I don't regret it at all even though I have had to put in a lot of work to get it nice.
z31's are nice and I hope maybe to have one someday sitting next to my S30

I trusted my gut despite having no experience in fixing cars beyond a brake job and oil changes, and having no garage. I just really wanted that car.
I bought a Fiero for double what it was worth (I had just let a good deal go by and had an itchy trigger finger). Dumped thousands into it.
Its now been sitting in a flaky transmission "specialists" shop for almost 4 months, after they put in a defective used transmission. I'm sure they are either half-assing the repair or are just clueless on how to proceed. They pretend to listen when I ask them about that they are doing with the car, and make sure they've read the manuals and proper fixes correctly. I have never felt as powerless in my life. This is literal rape.

Haven't fixed yet, too busy fixing other small things that aren't aesthetics.
Have fixed the door tho (handle wasn't connected, window wasn't sealed, etc)

easy? I've got no experience with the 4bager version, but the v6's are a bitch and a half to work on.
snapped bolts all day long and you can't even drop the oil pan without pulling the engine. it sits on top of a crossbeam that if I remember right is welded to the chassis. not to mention if you live in the salt belt it's probably rusted to shit by now, and good luck finding parts for them. my friend and I went to 4 scrap yards to find a z31 and we didn't come across a single one.
