Will Toyota ever sell an enthusiast Corolla model, like Honda does with the Civic Si and Type R?
>>14680639
Yes, it's called the Corolla S
>>14680643
The S is an appearance package, changes nothing with performance.
>>14680643
>>14680655
What are you on about? Isn't that the one with the supercharger? What else does S stand for?
>>14680655
its comes in manual
>>14680639
Gt apex trueno
>>14680668
0/10
>>14680673
Every trim in the Corolla has a manual and a CVT option, not just the S trim.
>>14680668
The S stands for slow
>>14680643
>add a spoiler
>now an enthusiast car
>>14680709
aesthetics is part of the enthusiast experience.
>>14680639
Yes, they did that up until 2000 with numerous Corolla gens.
maybe if you are an appliance enthusiast.
>>14680736
Actually, disregard that, they did it up until 2006, with the E12 T-Sport being the last one.
>>14680709
but the spoiler makes it really grounded to the ground.
>>14680740
I am
Isn't that basically what the Celica was?
>don't be too mean. I'll admit I have no idea what I'm talking about
When are you /o/tists going to understand that Toyota does not give a fuck about enthusiasts.
Every so often they will put out a car that caters to you. But it isn't about you, it is just to demonstrate that they can.
The GT86 was way more about proving the power Toyota has over the press and how strong the Stockholm syndrome is in your battered women. And to that point the car was only what it needed to be to generate the desired buzz. It's architecture is what it is because of this.
Point being, they are never going to make a corolla challenger to the civic unless there is a positive narrative to be constructed by it. Simply throwing their hat in the ring does not serve that narrative.
>>14680838
Only the last gen of the Celica.
Corollas got sporty models under the actual Corolla name.
Corolla trd
>>14680639
>enthusiast Corolla
What do you think the GT86 is?
>>14680889
>Point being, they are never going to make a corolla challenger to the civic unless there is a positive narrative to be constructed by it.
They already did that years ago and stopped after a while.
>>14680916
>making a completely retarded statement in a desperate attempt to dish out some cool memes
End yourself.
>>14680639
They did you idiot, it was the Corolla XRS and it came with the Celica GT-S powertrain
The last one was the 2006 Corolla XRS.
>>14680930
>LEAVE BRITTNEY ALONE
>>14680960
>>14680953
T-Sport looks better.
>>14680930
>being so assmad about a good joke
Found the "Scion" FR-S owner.
>>14680639
The mark x. Awd with v6
>>14681010
It's not a good joke, it's a retarded tryhard attempt at memeing.
Sure, GT86 is slow but it has fuck all to do with a Corolla and OP was specifically about sporty Corolla models.
Kill yourself retard.
>>14680639
They stopped doing that since Celica. GT86 is pretty much their enthusiast model now.
>>14680999
XRS was the last performance package released in the states
>>14681031
>so assblasted he's telling people to kill themselves left and right
KEK
>>14681058
>being an autistic umaru poster
>>14680999
I agree. I wish was available in the US.
>>14680740
I am.
>>14680916
A mulatto abomination with that awful boxer engine in. It should've been the 3S-GTE.
>>14680709
I heard spoilers are more effective when you put them on a FWD car. Toyota is so innovative
>>14680668
The S stands for Sucks
New cheap 20 thousand dollar rear wheel drive corolla with 2 doors a supercharged 4 banger
>>14680701
actually, last i checked only the s model did, and you still have to pay more for the manual version.
>>14680639
Why would you even want a "performance" Corolla?
>lolFWD
Just get a Toyobaru
honda will do it because they occasionally decide to cater to enthusiasts
it's also why honda is not as reliable as toyota.
>>14685312
>slower than a Sienna
>"sports car"
Lmao
>>14680643
No it's the XRS the one with the 8k redline
>>14680639
http://www.motoring.com.au/toyota-corolla-sportivo-4248/
They tried it once with the Sportivo.
Didn't end too well.
>>14680639
Why is it so ugly? That black section of the bumper with the extraneous chrome plastic trim is awful
>>14685320
>FWD
>"""enthusiast"""
>>14685386
I had the hardest time telling them apart from the Prius when that model first hit the road
>>14683593
>mulatto
are subbies niggers now?
>>14681031
It's a purposeful reincarnation of the AE86; a Corolla.
>>14685425
>now
Damn, they shoulda sold this in the US. Still an econobox, but would've been nice for that era where Toyota didn't sell anything remotely sporty.
And I wish some of the Lexus cars like the IS and GS were sold as Toyota variants without the luxury touches for a more affordable price. I think a Toyota badged IS250 or IS350 sold in the high 20's and low 30's would sell decently. Why buy a Corolla if you could get a RWD 2.5L compact sedan for just slightly more?
>>14685386
German auto makes probably pay them to uglify their cars.
>>14685491
They aren't doing so great themselves. Most of the new Mercs look pretty awful. The rear end of the C-Class and S-Class looks so shitty.
Most of the newest BMWs look pretty good though. Audi isn't too bad as well. Whoever designed the new Toyota and Lexus lines though should be fired. The IS used to look like a sports sedan, but now it looks like a less sporty Kia.
>>14685448
>ever
>>14685511
They've always been niggers anon
>>14685391
Fuck off retarded tripshit.
>>14685377
>once
Corollas always had sporty versions you retard.
>>14680740
>aston mouths everywhere
>FORD grille the size of the fucking Queen Elizabeth 2
>>14685483
>Why buy a Corolla if you could get a RWD 2.5L compact sedan for just slightly more?
That's exactly why they wouldn't do it. Why would they want to upend their most purchased car?
